Budget PC boost as the Ryzen 7 5700X, Ryzen 7 5800XT both fall to low $129 price
Table of Contents
Processor prices have been falling lately, for the 9000 series, 7000 series, and even Intel SKUs. For budget PC building, two particular deals are as surprising as they are impressive, as AMD’s Ryzen 7 5700X and Ryzen 7 5800XT CPUs are at the same low price on Amazon.
On first appearance, the lowest-ever price of $129 for two CPUs from the same family looks odd. But while these two processors aren’t far apart, they cater for slightly differing needs.

AMD Ryzen 7 5700X deal
AMD’s Ryzen 7 5700X is still a solid and power-efficient pick for value-focused systems in 2025. At $129, it’s $20 below its average Amazon price and back to its Black Friday low. The CPU hasn’t seen this price since the start of the year, so this deal offers clear value.
AMD Ryzen 7 5700X
Why we like the AMD Ryzen 5700X
This CPU has solid single-core performance and is flexible, but its power efficiency is where it separates itself from the 5800XT at the same deal price. Although less powerful, the 5700X is a 65W TDP part compared to the 5800XT’s 105W. If lower power is a priority, that’s a difference-maker, and it doesn’t run very hot either. Pair it with the best GPUs for the 5700X to get a system that can handle modern games and offer good productivity, too, thanks to its cores.
- Core specs – The Ryzen 7 5700X is an 8-core, 16-thread CPU with a 3.4GHz base speed and 4.6GHz boost speed, and a TDP of 65W.
- Performance – This CPU is a good value-focused option for productivity and gaming.
- Socket AM4 – A midrange option in AMD's Socket AM4 platform, requiring DDR4 RAM. It capably bridges the range from entry-level Ryzen 5 to high-end Ryzen 9 options.
- Cooler included – No cooler included.
AMD Ryzen 7 5800XT deal
Introduced in 2024 as a tweaked and refined update to the 5800X, the 5800XT is more powerful than the 5700X, but that does come with a need for more power. At its new $129 tag, this CPU gets a new lowest-ever price, for a massive $80 less than its average Amazon cost.
AMD Ryzen 7 5800XT
Why we like the AMD Ryzen 5800XT
More powerful than the Ryzen 7 5700X and the 5800X it supersedes, but cheaper than the 5800X, the 5800XT was a nice surprise for budget builders in 2024. It’s not so much faster than the 5700X to require a higher price, especially when its higher 105W TDP will cost a little more electricity-wise. But, like the 5700X, the best GPUs for the 5800XT can make this a great budget pick for a modern gaming PC with mixed productivity needs.
- Core specs – The Ryzen 7 5800XT is an 8-core, 16-thread CPU with a 3.8GHz base speed and 4.8GHz boost speed, and a TDP of 105W.
- Performance – This CPU is also a good value-focused option for productivity and gaming. Slightly faster than the 5700X but with a higher power draw.
- Socket AM4 – Another midrange option for AMD's Socket AM4 platform.
- Cooler included – No cooler included.
Which CPU is right for you?
The fact that the AMD Ryzen 7 5700X and 5800XT are now both $129 is useful because you can opt for either based on your preference for a budget gaming PC build. If power efficiency is more important to you, then you can pick the 5700X. On the other hand, if a bit more power and power draw is your preference, then the 5800XT makes sense.
At $129, each processor offers a lot of value, but don’t forget that neither has integrated graphics, so you will need a graphics card for any PC using them, even if the discrete GPU isn’t for gaming. Speaking of which, if you want superior gaming performance in the 5000 series, you could look towards the 5700X3D…but that CPU is around $280, putting it well beyond the impressive deal prices available here.
