Budget PC win as AMD’s Ryzen 7 5700G falls to lowest-ever price

Table of Contents
AMD CPUs seem to be constantly dropping in price. But what if you’re on or looking at Socket AM4 and want an affordable CPU with integrated graphics, not a dedicated GPU? The ‘X’ variant CPUs aren’t viable, but the Ryzen 7 5700G is.
The benefit of the 5700G is that you could upgrade an older AM4 system or build a budget PC without needing a graphics card. More on this below, but whether for a non-gaming build or to have future options, a new Amazon deal has the Ryzen 7 5700G at its lowest ever price. The processor is now $147, $18 (11%) off the typical price.

AMD Ryzen 7 5700G
Why we love the AMD Ryzen 7 5700G
The 5700G is certainly still a viable option for an affordable daily PC used for productivity and office tasks. Yet its Radeon Vega 8 graphics mean light gaming at lower resolutions is plausible. ‘Light’ is the operative word here (think (720p to 1080p max resolutions) because the integrated graphics are designed for flexible general use and not modern gaming.
- Core specs – The Ryzen 7 5700G is a solid 5000 series 8-core, 16-thread CPU with a 3.8GHz base speed and 4.6GHz boost speed, and a low TDP of 65W.
- iGPU – The 5700G uses AMD’s Radeon Vega 8 integrated graphics, so a PC doesn’t require a discrete GPU for general use.
- Performance – This CPU is suited to moderate mixed use between productivity, office applications, light editing, and potentially some light gaming (without a graphics card).
- Socket AM4 – This CPU uses AMD’s prior-generation Socket AM4 platform. There are limited CPUs to upgrade to from the Ryzen 7 5700G, with all 5800 and 5900 variants requiring a graphics card. This platform requires DDR4 RAM.
- Cooler included – The AMD Wraith Stealth cooler is bundled with this CPU.
Who is this AMD Ryzen 7 5700G deal for?
This deal would work well in a couple of scenarios. The first is if you’re on an older, lower-performing Socket AM4 CPU and want to move to a 5000 series CPU for general use. Thanks to the CPU’s integrated graphics, you don’t need a graphics card to use a PC with the 5700G installed.
The second scenario is if you’re looking to build a new budget PC for general use and want the option of not having a graphics card (but you may add one). If that’s the case, this deal also works, getting you a good-value CPU that can do daily tasks. Then, if you wish to beef it up to a gaming or content-focused PC, you could add one of the best GPUs for the 5700X, which would also work well with the 5700G.
Either way, this CPU at this price is a good deal. Just make sure that Socket AM4 is right for you. With prices dropping on the newer AMD 9000 series CPUs for Socket AM5, there are good deals out there. You will need DDR5 RAM and to spend a bit more on newer components, but such PCs will be a bit more future-facing.
