The ASUS TUF Gaming VG24VQER combines a compact 23.6-inch Full HD display with a pixel density of approximately 93 pixels per inch, a 180Hz refresh rate, Adaptive-Sync and a 1500R curve. Its VA panel delivers considerably stronger native contrast than a typical IPS gaming monitor, while ELMB Sync gives players an additional way to improve motion clarity. It is a very capable choice for budget-conscious PC gaming, although its understandable limitations of the 250-nit brightness and tilt-only stand and should be considered before buying. Pick it up now for a ridiculously cheap $99!

The compact footprint of this gaming monitor can be advantageous on a shallow desk or in a smaller gaming setup. The complete monitor measures approximately 21.2 inches wide, 15.9 inches high and 8.1 inches deep with its stand attached. The supplied stand provides tilt adjustment from approximately five degrees forward to 23 degrees backward. It does not offer height, swivel or pivot adjustment, which is one of the monitor’s more significant compromises. A 100x100mm VESA mounting pattern is included. A compatible monitor arm can therefore improve height and positioning flexibility (though you’ll have to buy this separately). What we like about the ASUS TUF Gaming VG24VQER

Smooth 180Hz gaming

A maximum refresh rate of 180Hz is the monitor’s principal strength. It provides a responsive presentation for shooters, racing games, sports titles and other fast-moving content, while remaining achievable at 1080p with a wider range of graphics cards than a high-refresh rate 1440p monitor.

Adaptive-Sync and AMD FreeSync

Variable-refresh support allows the monitor to adjust its refresh timing to match the rate at which the graphics card produces frames. This reduces visible tearing and can make inconsistent performance look smoother than it would at a fixed refresh rate. The VG24VQER carries AMD FreeSync and VESA AdaptiveSync Display 180Hz certifications. Adaptive-Sync may also operate with compatible NVIDIA graphics cards over DisplayPort.

ELMB Sync motion-blur reduction

ASUS Extreme Low Motion Blur uses backlight strobing to reduce the persistence blur that occurs when the eye tracks moving objects across a sample-and-hold display. ELMB Sync is particularly useful because it allows the blur-reduction system to operate alongside Adaptive-Sync rather than forcing the user to choose one feature or the other. The result can make moving targets and environmental details appear clearer during fast gameplay. Backlight strobing normally reduces perceived brightness, however, and its effectiveness depends on stable frame delivery and appropriate settings. Some users are also more sensitive than others to flicker-based motion-blur reduction.

Strong VA-panel contrast

ASUS rates the panel for a typical contrast ratio of 3,000:1. That is substantially higher than the approximately 1,000:1 native contrast commonly associated with standard IPS gaming monitors, allowing black areas to appear deeper in a dim room. The stronger contrast benefits horror games, dark cinematic scenes and general evening viewing. Shadow Boost is available when greater visibility is more important than preserving the intended black level, selectively raising detail in darker regions without applying the same increase to bright areas.

VA technology has a trade-off. Dark pixel transitions can be slower than brighter transitions, potentially producing visible smearing behind dark objects during motion. Overdrive and ELMB can mitigate some of this behaviour, but shoppers especially sensitive to dark trails may prefer a proven fast IPS or OLED display.

A compact 1500R curve

The 1500R curvature bends the panel towards the viewer and creates a more enveloping shape than a flat 24-inch screen. It is a matter of preference at this relatively small size: some users enjoy the curve in racing games and first-person titles, while others may find its effect modest.

Wide color coverage for the price

ASUS claims coverage of 90% of the DCI-P3 colour space and support for 16.7 million colours. That is a wider advertised gamut than a basic sRGB-only office monitor and can produce more saturated colour in compatible material.

Gamut coverage alone does not guarantee factory accuracy. The listing does not include a low Delta E calibration claim, and the monitor is not positioned as a professional colour-reference display. It should be suitable for games, entertainment and everyday creative work, but colour-critical production still calls for calibration and a monitor designed for that purpose.

Multiple display inputs

Connectivity consists of one DisplayPort 1.2 input and two HDMI 2.0 ports, along with a 3.5mm headphone output. The three video inputs make it possible to leave a desktop computer and two additional devices connected without repeatedly changing cables.

A DisplayPort cable is included, alongside the external power adapter, power cord, quick-start guide, warranty documentation and an L-shaped screwdriver. No HDMI cable is identified in the standard package.

The monitor does not contain built-in speakers. Audio arriving over HDMI or DisplayPort can be passed to headphones or external powered speakers through the 3.5mm output, but the monitor itself does not produce sound.

Eye-comfort features

The display includes TÜV-certified flicker-free operation and a low-blue-light function. These features may make extended use more comfortable, although no monitor setting eliminates the value of appropriate room lighting, viewing distance and regular breaks. The anti-glare screen treatment also helps reduce distinct reflections from nearby lights and windows. Its matte surface will not deliver the glossy clarity associated with some premium OLED monitors, but it is more practical in a typical mixed-light gaming environment.

Three-year warranty

The Amazon listing specifies a three-year warranty with advance replacement service. Warranty conditions can vary by country and seller, so buyers should confirm eligibility and retain the original proof of purchase.

Who should consider this VA monitor deal?

The ASUS TUF Gaming VG24VQER is best suited to someone seeking an affordable 1080p gaming monitor for a compact desk. Its 180Hz refresh rate and variable-refresh support make it particularly appropriate for competitive games, while the Full HD resolution allows less expensive graphics cards to produce high frame rates. It is also a reasonable choice for players who prefer the deeper blacks of a VA panel over the wider consistency and typically cleaner dark motion of IPS. The 1500R curve adds a degree of immersion, though it is unlikely to transform the experience on a screen measuring only 23.6 inches. Console owners can use the two HDMI ports for current-generation systems, but the monitor is fundamentally designed around 1080p PC gaming. It cannot display a native 1440p or 4K image, and console-specific refresh-rate and VRR operation will depend on the connected system’s supported output modes.

Buyers who need a height-adjustable stand, USB hub, USB-C connection or built-in speakers should look elsewhere or budget for additional accessories. Anyone prioritising meaningful HDR, professional colour accuracy or consistently rapid dark-pixel response will also be better served by a more expensive display.

For straightforward high-FPS gaming at 1080p, however, the VG24VQER offers a useful combination of 180Hz operation, Adaptive-Sync, ELMB Sync and strong native contrast. It makes the most sense when priced comfortably below comparable 1440p models and when its basic stand and 250-nit brightness are acceptable.
