Entry-level Ryzen 5 9600X just became even more affordable in new Amazon deal
Table of Contents
When you’re building a PC, every dollar counts. And when we reported on the Ryzen 9 9600X dropping in price a few weeks back, we didn’t expect an improvement so quickly. But the CPU’s price has lowered again so it will save a bit more money on that new build. It’s also one of the best CPUs for the RTX 4060, but would pair well with entry-level and mid-range cards from AMD and Intel too.
Regardless, the new discount sees the 9600X drop to $237, a 15% drop in the list price. So the most affordable of the 9000 series processors just became even better in affordability – which is a strong point it would do well to maintain.
AMD Ryzen 5 9600X
Why we like the AMD Ryzen 5 9600X
Okay, a 9800X3D it may not be, but this Zen 5 processor is still the entry-level option of the latest AMD series and can provide punchy improvements over AMD’s last-gen entry-level models.
- Socket AM5 – As one of the very latest generation AMD CPUs, the processor will run on future-facing Socket AM5 systems.
- Performance: The 9600X is capable of providing 100+ FPS in popular games when paired with a capable graphics card.
- Architecture: A 6C 12T (6-Core, 12-Thread) Processor, speed, and power efficiency are key, with the 9600X doing well in these areas.
- Overclocking:Â The CPU has a 5.4 GHz max boost clock, 38MB cache, and support for DDR5-5600 memory. Its ‘X’ denomination means it can be overclocked, but expect more power and heat if you do decide to – more cooling will be needed.
- Cooler Not Included:Â You will need to purchase a cooler regardless of whether you overclock as one does not come with the CPU.
