Impressive mid-range gaming PC with Ryzen 9 9900X and RX 7800XT gets $300 knocked off its price

What you need to know about this PC
- RX 7800XT: We reviewed this card in-house, giving it 4.5 stars. In short, we found it very impressive at 1440p, offering a very good and affordable alternative to the RTX 4070. We found that we could often get 1440p at above 60fps, with some titles getting to 100fps and more. For 4K, it did okay, with games like Cyberpunk 2077 hitting around 30fps, but it’s clearly a 1440p card at its heart.
- AMD Ryzen 9 9900X: Another CPU we’ve reviewed and tested in house. This processor is pretty beefy, boasting 12 cores/ 24 threads, with a boost clock speed of 5.6 GHz and an L3 Cache of 64MB. We found it was excellent at single core performance, which is a good indicator of how it’ll do with gaming, and okay with multi-threaded performance – however slightly held back due to its leaning towards power efficiency. For gaming though, this is a great to have in your build.
- Ample storage: You’ve got a 2TB NVMe SSD in this build, which is great for anyone looking to build out a big gaming library, or simple store loads of files.
- 64GB RAM: Unlike some of the older builds, here you have the latest version of RAM, DDR5, which is roughly twice as fast as DDR4. And you’ve got a load of it too, coming in at 64GB. That’s going to be very useful for overall system speed, and ideal if you’re jumping in and out of multiple applications.
- Excellent design: Personally, I think the design of this PC looks great, opting for something a little darker and serious-looking compared to the happy-go-lucky builds found elsewhere. This would be a great addition to darker setup – think Batcave, and you’ll get what I mean.
Is this gaming PC for you?
So this gaming PC is very much a mid-range option in terms of pricing and components, but it doesn’t skimp on giving you access to some of the latest tech, like DDR5 RAM for instance. For gaming, it’s going to be good for 1440p and decent for 4K, and for video-editing and other intensive tasks, it’ll perform well also, especially with the punchy CPU that will be responsible for a speedier and more efficient workflow.
I’d say that in terms of pricing, you’re getting a lot for your money here, but it’s the savings which are the real winner, as they can go someway to grabbing either a decent 4K or 1440 monitor – many of which I’ve spotted with big discounts on Amazon.
