Table of Contents
If you’re looking for a powerful RTX 5070 gaming laptop for a genuinely competitive price, I’d say this discounted Thunderobot Radiant 16 is well worth a look. It’s down to its lowest price in 30 days on Amazon through PCOnline US, coming in at $1,999.00 with 20% off its list price. Now for just under $2,000, you’re getting a lot here, and it’s a smart configuration that scales back a bit with its choice of an Intel 13th-gen processor, but goes all-in with a high-refresh-rate QHD+ display, loads of DDR5 RAM, and a streamlined, sleek chassis.
With the RTX 5070 mobile, you’re getting 8GB of GDDR7 VRAM, 4,608 CUDA cores, and Blackwell features and improvements, like 4th-gen ray tracing cores, 5th-gen tensor cores, and DLSS with MFG. It’s a GPU that does 1440p/ 1600p very well, and can be used for very high refresh rate FHD gaming, too. It’s also a punchy option for creators looking for more raw power than the RTX 5060 mobile can offer.
THUNDEROBOT Radiant 16 Intel Core i9-13900HX 5070 32GB + 1TB Gaming Laptop
That’s paired with an Intel Core i9-13900HX, which is still a very impressive CPU, despite being a couple of generations older. It features 24 cores (8P + 16E), 32 threads, a 36MB L3 cache, and a 5.4GHz boost clock speed. These specs put it head and shoulders above many of the lower-end CPUs sometimes found paired with the RTX 5070. Thanks to this higher core and thread count, you’re essentially getting a CPU that has very strong multitasking capabilities, and something that’s primed to handle gaming at high frame rates well, too.

RAM comes in at a substantial 32GB, which has its obvious benefit for both gaming and workstation usage. It features a relatively small 1TB SSD, which is fine for starters, but can be upgraded to 4TB if needed. The same goes for the RAM, as this laptop can have up to 64 GB.
The screen is particularly impressive. It’s QHD+ and 300Hz, which makes it an excellent pick for high-refresh gaming and enjoying slower-paced titles at higher resolutions and settings. It’s bright, too, coming in at 500 nits, and you can enjoy wider viewing angles thanks to it being an IPS panel. Color is fine for gaming and web design, as it’s 100% sRGB, but it wouldn’t be my first choice for critical creative edits for film and print.
Why this gaming laptop is worth considering at its current price
Its ‘older’ CPU saves you some cash, but it’s still a powerhouse for gaming, multitasking, and more
It may be 13th-gen, but this is one seriously high-end processor that can handle both gaming and CPU-intensive tasks like rendering, video editing, and running background applications. It’s this CPU that makes this laptop more than just a powerful gaming machine.
It’s not over or under-specced for the RTX 5070
This configuration makes a lot of sense, as it’s designed to complement both the RTX 5070’s gaming and workstation capabilities. A QHD+ screen is appropriate, as is its 300Hz refresh rate, while having a higher core-count CPU with a large L3 cache ensures smooth gameplay and multitasking.
