Now might be one of your last chances to get a 13th Gen Intel CPU at a bargain price, as the global chip maker has just announced it will be discontinuing select 13th Gen CPUs.
Intel’s 13th Gen CPU lineup has been a smash hit since its arrival back in 2022 – offering up decent performance at a price point that’s hard to argue with. It went live shortly after AMD’s Zen 4 desktop CPUs launch and was initially reserved to just 6 SKUs. Since then, the lineup has continued to grow, offering up excellent performance for almost every budgetary banding.
Intel Core i9-13900K CPU
But like any aging hardware technology, the once great 13th Gen CPUs look like they’re coming to a close, with Intel announcing discontinuation of the range (or most of it anyway). OEMs and retailers can still make orders for the 13th Gen chips up until the 24th of May, with the last shipments closing on the 28th of June.
While this makes sense from a DIY building standpoint (with better value offered up from the 14th Gen range), it also feels like an opportunity for savings. We’ve been hard at work scouring the web’s biggest retailers looking for CPU deals, and low and behold, have found a cracking offer that might make you reconsider that 14th Gen upgrade.
Save 24% on the Intel i9-13900K at Amazon
In a limited-time deal from Amazon, users can now get their hands on the I9-13900K for around $479 – which isn’t bad when all things considered. We’re not sure on how long the deal will be live for, but when compared against its successor – the 14900K – it actually becomes a relevant option (especially at this price point).
All things said, it’ll be interesting to see what retailers do over the next couple of months – with pricing unclear at this stage. Hopefully we’ll see a nice decline over the next month or so and it’ll give DIY builders the opportunity to save a few dollars on what is still considered a very honest and likable CPU lineup.
