The size and resolution are what make this monitor particularly interesting. The 39-inch 5K2K OLED panel provides plenty of room to see more of a game world at once, while the 1500R curve brings the edges of the display closer to your field of view. The high pixel count also keeps everything sharp, from small text and menus to detailed environments in games.

LG has also included an AI Upscaling feature that can improve lower-resolution content to take better advantage of the monitor’s 5K2K panel. The built-in processor analyzes the source image and enhances details and clarity, meaning you can make better use of the high-resolution display without immediately needing to upgrade your graphics card.
For OLED performance, the 39GX uses LG’s 4th Gen Primary RGB Tandem OLED technology. The advanced four-stack RGB structure is designed to improve brightness, contrast, color accuracy, and power efficiency. It can reach up to 335 nits of typical brightness while maintaining the deep blacks. Those are further supported by VESA DisplayHDR True Black 500 certification. With a claimed 1.85 million-to-1 contrast ratio and up to 99.5% DCI-P3 color coverage, the monitor can display strong highlights alongside detailed shadows.
Color accuracy is also a major focus. The monitor has a Delta E≤2 color accuracy rating and is UL-verified for Perfect Black, Perfect Color, and Perfect Reproduction. These certifications are designed to ensure that colors and details remain accurate across different lighting conditions, making the monitor suitable for more than just gaming.
Aside from that, the monitor’s 165Hz refresh rate keeps motion smooth, while the incredibly fast 0.03ms response time helps reduce ghosting during quick movements. Support for Nvidia G-Sync and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro also helps prevent screen tearing and stuttering, allowing the display to stay smooth with compatible graphics hardware.
Should you get this gaming monitor?
Overall, the LG UltraGear 39GX is designed as an all-in-one display for people who want an expansive gaming experience but also need enough resolution, screen space, and color accuracy for creative work and everyday productivity. Connectivity is handled through a modern selection of ports, including HDMI, DisplayPort, and USB-C. This makes it easier to connect a gaming PC, laptop, or other devices without relying on a collection of adapters.
