Table of Contents
The Spring Deal Days sales are finally here, and it looks like there are a load of excellent CPUs getting hefty discounts. One that caught our eye was this AMD Ryzen 7 5700X, which impressed us back when we reviewed here at PCguide. It’s a CPU that’s more punchy than the budget-friendly 5600X, but it’s also more wallet-friendly than the 5900X – even more so with this deal.
Right now you can score 50% off this CPU, bringing its price down from $299.00 to $150.00, saving you just shy of $150. Not bad, considering this CPU has a low TDP, does pretty well at multi-tasking, and is surprisingly good for gaming despite being a little on the older side. You can read more about this CPU in our in-depth review, but we’ve highlighted some of the main areas of interest for you below to help you figure out if this is the right processor for your needs.

AMD Ryzen 7 5700X 8-Core, 16-Thread Unlocked Desktop Processor
What we like about this CPU
- AM4 platform: AM5 builds can be a bit on the expensive side, considering that you have to swap out everything from the motherboard to the RAM, making this a great option if you’re looking to save on your entire build. AM4 compatible components are plentiful, so you’ve got a lot of options to choose from.
- Efficient performance: This actually has a lower TDP than the 5800X, coming in at 65W. That’s great if you’re going for something that’s not going to use a tonne of energy, or you want something that’s a little more on the quiet side. For a productivity setup, that could be a real win.
- 8 cores and 16 threads: This CPU was released back when AMD was leading the charge with multi-threaded performance, and unsurprisingly this CPU delivers well in that area. That’s great for gaming, content creation, and more.
- Budget friendly: As mentioned, this is a good option if you’re looking to stick to a budget, offering solid performance but at a fraction of the price of some of the newer, higher-end CPUs.
- 4.6 GHz Max Boost and 36 MB cache: Both good starting points for gaming, and demanding tasks such as video-editing.
Who’s this deal for?
While AM5 CPUs would be our top choice, this CPU is all about value for money, and we think it delivers well in this regard, especially so with this deal. This is for people who may not need the absolute top-end setup, but still want solid performance for work and gaming. AM4 is going to be supported for a few years to come too, giving you plenty of time for AM5 components to come down in price, should you wish to upgrade in the future. All in all, it’s a great deal well worth jumping on, and is currently hovering close to its all-time-low on Amazon, according to price-tracker camelcamelcamel.
