This huge 85″ Toshiba Z670R Series TV is now down to its lowest price ever on Amazon, with a beefy 41% discount knocking it to $999.99. So this TV actually brings a fair bit to the table for the price, even though it’s still quite the investment. What you’re getting here is a mini-LED TV with full array local dimming. That means precise contrast and brightness control for more cinematic, atmospheric, and lifelike picture quality. HDR support is comprehensive and includes Dolby Vision IQ, priming it nicely for immersive movie nights. And its gaming features are excellent for both high-end consoles and PCs, thanks in part to its high 144Hz refresh rate and FreeSync Premium adaptive sync technology. At the core of this TV, you’ve got the Regza Engine Zri Gen3, which provides powerful picture and audio optimization on the fly depending on the type of content you’re watching. There are a few more bells and whistles to this TV that I’ll get into shortly, but all-in-all, it’s a solid option to go for if you want size, quality, and performance, without paying OLED prices.

What we like about this Toshiba 85″ Z670R QLED TV
A level up from traditional LED/LCD options
With smaller LEDs, this TV has much finer control over its brightness and contrast than, say, a more budget-friendly LED model. More control and more dimming zones make for a much more nuanced viewing experience, helping improve contrast, clarity, and improving depth. This can make all the difference when watching HDR content.
Designed to work well with high-end consoles and PCs
A native 144Hz refresh rate is pretty much on the upper end of what you can get in a TV, so if you’ve got a console or PC that can hit around 120fps in 4K, this TV is a good shout. With VRR and FreeSync Premium, however, you’re going to be getting a much smoother experience when gaming, with reduced screen tearing and stutter. That’s a big win, especially when you encounter changing framerates while gaming. ALLM is also a win, as it reduces input latency automatically, so you have a more responsive feel when gaming, too.

Solid built-in audio
This TV features a Regza bass woofer and dual direct speakers, meaning you don’t need to instantly rush to buy a soundbar or surround sound setup to have an immersive audio experience.
User-friendly Fire TV platform
This is great for finding and discovering new shows and navigating through multiple different streaming platforms. It’s also a good choice if you’re already in the Alexa ecosystem, as you can search by voice and even control your smart home directly from the TV itself.
Extensive HDR support
This TV supports HDR10, HDR10+, HDR10+ Adaptive, HLG, and Dolby Vision IQ. In short, it means that it can adjust its picture settings dynamically throughout content, rather than just having a fixed setting. With Dolby Vision IQ, it uses a light sensor to adapt its settings further in line with ambient lighting conditions, which is brilliant for daytime and nighttime viewing.
