TCL 75-Inch QM7K QLED 4K Smart QD-Mini LED TV with Google TV (75QM7K, 2025 Model)
What we like about this TV
- QD-mini LED: You may have come across QD-OLED TVs and this is similiar in the sense that its a hybrid technology that aims to get the ‘best of both worlds’ between QLED and OLED. With this TV, however, it combines the exceptional color of QLED with the precision of Mini-LED, for picture quality that’s bright, vivid, crisp, and with high contrast. Generally speaking, it’s similar to OLED, but not as expensive, and a oftentimes brighter.
- 144hz refresh rate: The higher the refresh rate, the higher the frames per second this TV can produce. 144hz is akin to many standard gaming monitors, and a popular choice for many. This is ideal if you’re pairing it with a PS5 or Xbox Series X, both of which are capable of 4K gaming at 60fps and above.
- 3000 nit peak brightness: This is incredibly high for a TV, and means that it will be clearly visible in well-lit rooms – that’s something that isn’t always the case with older OLED models for comparison.
- Game accelerator: This is feature that enhances your gaming experience by lowering latency and increasing responsiveness. This type of feature is slightly gimmicky in some senses, but it does have its uses if you’re planning on playing fast-paced, competitive titles on this TV. Think first person shooters or racing games, and you get the idea of where this will come in handy.
- Film-maker mode: Also seen on other high-end models from different brands, such as this discounted LG C3, this is a feature that adjusts the picture to match the director’s intentions. That means that you’ll see colors the way they wanted you to, which can make a lot of difference to the experience itself.
- Halo control system: Sometimes with mini-LEDs or QLED TVs you get something called ‘haloing’, which is sort of glow around brighter areas that spills into the darker areas of the screen. It doesn’t look great, and can be distracting, taking away from the overall picture quality. TCL has its own Halo control system that combines a whole host of tech to reduce this – ensuring that picture quality is crisp and halo free. A big win in our books, especially for the price.
Who’s this deal for?
If you’re someone who’s looking for a large screen TV, but wants to stick to a more mid-range budget, this TV ticks a fair few boxes that make it a versatile option for both gamers and everyday users alike. The real win here is how much TV you’re getting for the price, coupled with the hybrid technology of QLED and Mini-LED. Add that to the fact it’s at its best price ever, and you’ve got a fairly convincing argument to go for it.
Who’s this deal not for?
I’d say that while it does boast some impressive gaming features, there are other options that go a little further in that regard, but they’re a little smaller. You can find more gaming monitor elements in the LG C-series, and could have some luck getting a 77-inch LG C2 for around $200 more in the sales.
I’d also say that you really want to think about how much space you have, as these TVs are massive, and will dominate a room. If you’re living space is smaller, you’ll be sitting closer to the TV, so you can get away with something around 65-inches if that’s the case.
My thoughts on the TV
Personally, I think this TV is bang on the money for what you’re getting, and a great way to grab something for a home theatre setup without nerfing your funds for surround sound or sound bars. I’m not sure how much longer it’ll stay at this price, but I’d say that now is as good a time as any to purchase, if you’ve had your heart set on a large, high-quality TV.
