Mid-range Samsung 55-inch QLED TV now even more affordable – snaps back to record low price again

Another cracking TV deal spotted that’s making it very difficult for us to wait till the Amazon Spring Sales. This time, I’ve found an excellent Samsung 55-inch QLED TV going for under $500 thanks to a massive 38% limited time discount and now back at its lowest price ever, according to price tracker camelcamelcamel.
This TV is a great shout for anyone trying to stick to a budget of under $500 that wants to get as much bang for their buck as possible, and while this TV hasn’t been too close to its list price since late 2024, the recent drop, only a couple months ago it was at around $650, so there’s some decent savings to be had regardless.
Let’s take a closer look at this TV and breakdown some of the standout features.
SAMSUNG 55-Inch Class QLED 4K Q60D Series Quantum HDR Smart TV
Need-to-know specs and features
- QLED – this is sort of the ‘base-level’ when it comes to panel technology. QLEDs are actually very bright and perform very well on the whole, but you’ll find that contrast won’t be as good as say, an OLED or a mini-led – both of which would be far more expensive than this TV, likely double the price in most cases.
- Motion Xcelerator – an upscaling feature that can help smoothen out on screen motion when images on the screen go very fast. That’s great for gaming and watching sports.
- 60hz refresh rate – this is important if you’ve got a PS5 or Xbox Series X which can both play games at higher than 60fps and need something 120hz to get the most out of them. 60hz is great for gaming still, but this TV is more for watching movies and shows on than a gaming TV. For gaming TVs, you’ll have to spend a little more, or simply find a monitor for under $500 instead.
- Versatile size – 55-inches is the sweet spot for most living spaces in my experience, even for some larger rooms in fact, and on top of that this TV is surprisingly slim profiled – making it look much better when wall mounted.
- Object tracking sound lite – this is quite cool and good for immersion. This technology tracks the sounds on the screen and plays it out of the speaker closest to that sound source on the screen. Car explodes towards the right of the screen, you’ll hear it more there for example.
While this TV isn’t the very, very top of the line, I think for under $500 it’s a great buy and offers a lot of premium features that you’d otherwise miss at this price range. It may sound small, but the slim profile design is something not often seen at under $500, and it make a world of difference if you’re wall mounting. Little details like that bump up the price, so this is a big win in my eyes.
Is it the best time to buy? Yeah, I’d say it is if you don’t fancy trying your luck in the Spring Sales whenever they arrive. The last time it was at this price was Black Friday 2024 and over Xmas according to camelcamelcamel data, so I’d expect it to rest to its $650 point pretty soon.
