This excellent mid-range Skytech Shadow gaming PC is now $200 off at Newegg, and has been reduced from $1,899.99 to $1,699.99, which is a great price for something with exceptional build quality, an RTX 5070, a powerful Ryzen 7 7700 processor, and 32GB of DDR5. This is the type of PC that’s going to be great for 1440p gaming, but also adept at handling more demanding multitasking workloads, too. What’s more, we’re big fans of the sleek and simple look and design of this PC, and think it makes for a versatile option that would go well in practically any setup. For the price, it’s a solid option well worth considering.

Key features of this Skytech Shadow RTX 5070 gaming PC

Ryzen 7 7700 processor

This PC features the impressive Ryzen 7 7700, which is a great CPU for gaming, multitasking, and productivity, especially for the price. This Zen 4 CPU is built on the AM5 socket, which means that you have some headroom for upgrades later down the line, and won’t need to swap out your motherboard anytime soon. It features a very high 5.3GHz boost clock speed, with a large 32MB L3 cache, which makes it brilliant for 1440p and 4K gaming, which is well within the RTX 5070’s capabilities. In terms of multitasking, it has the standard 8 cores and 16 threads you’d expect from a mid-range processor. This is still good, mind you, as it’s enough to handle streaming, running background applications like Discord, and help with rendering and more complex creative workflows, if needed. It’s also highly efficient, coming in at 65W TDP, which makes it ideal for smaller builds like this one, and saves you some cash as you don’t need an extreme AIO cooling solution, too.

RAM and storage

This build has 32GB of DDR5, which is going to be especially useful when it comes to playing certain types of demanding games, like open-world and simulators, and it will make some of the most popular creative applications, like Blender and Adobe Premiere Pro, feel more responsive, especially in tasks like 4K timeline scrubbing, for instance. In terms of storage, there’s nothing to break out into song and dance about. It’s 1TB, which is fine, and allows you to pay for storage that you’d actually use, rather than having more than you’d need for a much higher price point. To keep this PC under $1,700, we’d say it’s a smart move.

RTX 5070 graphics card

The RTX 5070 is probably the best graphics card you can buy for value and 1440p performance. It’s a much more powerful option than your standard RTX 5060, and boasts 12GB of GDDR7 compared to its 8GB, making it more capable of handling 1440p at higher settings. Of course, it has all the bonuses of Nvidia’s Blackweel architecture, like faster VRAM, 4th-gen ray tracing cores, and 5th-gen tensor cores, all of which give it the advantage over many, albeit very well-priced, competitor cards. For creatives, it’s a good middle-ground pick that’s going to be decent for more moderately demanding creative workflows. Thanks to features like 9th-gen Nvidia encoders and Nvidia Broadcast, it’s a good card for content creators who want to keep costs relatively low, and don’t necessarily need the firepower of an RTX 5070 Ti, for example. Things to consider

So it’s not completely unheard of to find RX 9070 XT prebuilds at around $1,800, which isn’t too far away from the price of this PC. You may want to consider these if you’re looking for something that’s going to be more adept for 1440p and 4K gaming, especially when it comes to raw performance. The RTX 5070 Ti has the edge, however, but these will cost you between $2,000 and $2,400, generally speaking. Right now, I’m seeing a lot of RX 9070 XT and RTX 5070 Ti builds on sale at Newegg, so if you’re still weighing up your options, be sure to check out our top gaming PC deals below to see what’s out there.
