Overlooked Ryzen 7 9700X has tumbled in price for Amazon Prime Day

The performance of this CPU is enough for a solid mid-range gaming rig or daily-use PC. However, more productivity and gaming-focused performance (X3D) is possible with more powerful processors.

Currently, it’s $170 cheaper than the 9800X3D, and about $85 more expensive than the 9600X. For a CPU that can provide both enjoyable gaming and decent multi-core performance, it’s priced right, well under its $300 average.
What to consider before you buy
Is the Ryzen 7 9700X the best CPU for gaming? Actually, for mid-range prices, we’d say so, yes. It fits well between the 9800X3D and the entry-level 9600X, and does the job you’d expect for its position. We think this deal offers a good opportunity to pick it up for less, knowing that it’ll deliver for years, and open the door to further Socket AM5 upgrades.
