This Sceptre 27-inch gaming monitor is currently sitting at its lowest ever on Amazon, with 22% off its list price. It’s now going for just $89.97, which is seriously affordable for a gaming monitor. Obviously, as with any sub-$100 displays, it’s a more basic type of gaming monitor, so you’re getting FHD resolution and a 180Hz refresh rate. Not bad at all, especially if you have a gaming PC that you typically use for high FPS, FHD gaming, but also want a monitor that’s larger than your typical e-sports-oriented 24.5-inch displays. Here’s a closer look at this monitor’s key features and specs, so you know what it brings to the table.

Key features of this Sceptre 27″ gaming monitor

180Hz refresh rate with 1ms response time

Not bad at all, and a combination that would be entirely appropriate for most FHD gaming PCs. 180Hz is going to unlock high enough frame rates for competitive gaming, while its 1ms response time will help reduce motion blur and ghosting.

FHD and 27 inches

At this size, FHD resolution looks pretty decent, but it’s right on the line, as any larger would start reducing perceived picture clarity and quality. Importantly, at this size, you’re getting a monitor that’s going to be far more practical than a 24.5-inch alternative, enabling you to easily use it for everyday tasks, productivity, and watching content.

99% RGB color

Again, this is not bad for a budget-friendly monitor, as it means that games and content should look vibrant, rather than flat and lifeless. I wouldn’t say it’s creator-friendly, however, but in my experience, with monitors sub-$100, that’s very rarely the case.

Built-in speakers

Having built-in speakers may not be a big deal at higher price points, but if you’re trying to keep costs down, they’re a welcome addition. Not only that, but if you’ve got a smaller setup, having integrated speakers can free up some space.

Should you go for this deal?

At its current price, it’s certainly compelling, especially if you’re after something primarily for high FPS FHD gaming. Of course, there are some slight caveats here, as expected at this price point. I’d say that FHD, 27-inch monitors are incredibly common, and often affordable, so it’s not really a case of saving an extra $10 or so in most cases. It’s more about what’s more important to you: high FPS gaming performance or picture quality. At this price point, getting both is tough, but as a rule of thumb, opting for a VA panel tends to yield better contrast, which can help give more depth to what you’re watching or playing, without being too expensive.
