There’s no doubt that the RX 9070 XT remains overpriced. But in a graphics card (or component) market where that’s the norm, it still offers above-average value. What may help, though, if you’re looking for one right now, is Amazon’s 14% discount on the PowerColor Reaper model. According to Camelcamelcamel, its average price with the retailer is $751. The current price? $690, which is still a lot cheaper than the obvious alternative: the RTX 5070 Ti.

Why we like the PowerColor Reaper RX 9070 XT

A better price

Because RX 9070 XT models can creep to the $750 mark and beyond, this card has the best price we can find right now. And considering even non-OC variants, like this PowerColor Reaper, can push to 4K gaming, the value is clear. Why spend more, unless you want a custom overclock or a specific brand and its features?

RTX 4080-like performance

In our hands-on review of an RX 9070 XT, we noted that these cards are capable of RTX 4080-level performance. That’s not to be sniffed at, given that it indicates smooth 4K gaming across a wide range of titles. While the tested card was an overclocked variant, you can rest assured that the Reaper is a true 4K option, even if you need to compromise on some settings.

More VRAM for less

For Team Green, 16GB of VRAM at this price point doesn’t happen. While the RTX 5070 has 12GB, it’s the $1,000 RTX 5070 Ti that offers 16GB. That makes the RX 9070 XT uniquely positioned for modern and future titles, while offering added flexibility for streaming and content creation.

What to consider before you buy

The RX 9070 XT is certainly one of the best graphics cards for gaming. In fact, its 16GB of VRAM puts it in a strong position for content creation and other duties, too. If value is key to your setup, then it makes a lot more sense to get this card than the cheaper RTX 5070 – if you can stretch to it. It’s also a better option than the RTX 5070 Ti, unless you can spend a further $300. The caveat is Nvidia’s feature set, such as the impressive DLSS and multi-frame generation. If you want the best scaling and AI machine learning, Team Green is the go-to, but for pure gaming, this PowerColor card is one we’d recommend.
