Why we’d pick this HP HyperX Omen 16 gaming laptop
A CPU and GPU for more than gaming
Yes, the mobile RTX 5070 GPU and Intel Core Ultra 9 386H are good options for triple-A gaming at 1440p, and even 1600p. But they’ll also support content creation, AI tools, breezy multitasking, and productivity workloads. While this isn’t quite a powerful desktop replacement, this 16-inch laptop has a lot of potential for gaming and more.
An immersive, fast display
This laptop’s screen is a 16-inch WQXGA 2.5K (2560×1600) panel, and it supports an impressive 240Hz refresh rate. So you can expect fluid and smooth gameplay across the 16:10 aspect ratio monitor, even in triple-A games. Plus, the RTX 5070 supports the latest DLSS iterations from Nvidia, giving it AI-powered scaling abilities for extra performance.

Excellent features and connectivity
Beyond the core specs, including 32GB of DDR5 RAM and a 1TB NVMe, this laptop also offers excellent connectivity and features. There’s WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 6, and for physical connections, the laptop has an Ethernet port, USB-A, USB-C, HDMI, and an audio combo jack. Plus, gamers get a 4-zone RGB backlit full-size keyboard and an IR camera and dual microphones for calls and comms.
What to consider before you buy
This HP HyperX Omen 16 deal has a hefty discount, but it’s best to compare prices before investing this sum of money in a gaming laptop. Make sure the specs and features meet your needs, and on that note, the RTX 5070 is particularly important. This is a capable 1440p GPU. However, the RTX 5070 mobile GPU features 8GB, not 12GB, of VRAM like the desktop model. If you feel you want more, the mobile RTX 5070 Ti is the (pricier) step up.
