Prime Day deal drops the price of ASUS RX 9070 GRE EVO OC, perfect for a mid-range build
Table of Contents
Graphics cards have gotten a whole lot more expensive, making upgrading or building new PCs very challenging. However, on the second day of Prime Big Deal Days, we came across the ASUS Prime RX 9070 GRE EVO OC on sale with a decent price cut, which knocked it down to $539.99. This graphics card comes with 12GB GDDR6 VRAM and has the same design and features as the ASUS Prime RX 9070 XT OC that we’ve reviewed.
However, with 12GB VRAM, it competes with the RTX 5070 and can easily handle ultra 1440p gaming as well as 4K with the help of FSR 4 in graphically demanding titles. Other than that, it has a robust build quality, special attention to protecting the internals, and dual BIOS, allowing you to easily switch between quiet and performance modes. We think this GPU certainly has a place in this market, and for the price, the value for money is pretty good.

What we liked about the ASUS Prime RX 9070 GRE EVO OC
Great gaming performance for the price point
The RX 9070 GRE was introduced as a more budget-friendly option, but thanks to the RDNA 4 architecture, it still delivers impressive performance. It can handle any AAA title at 1440p, even with maxed-out in-game settings; 4K gaming is also possible. Depending on the graphical fidelity, native 4K can be achieved, but in titles like Cyberpunk 2077, where high 40 FPS would be its limit, it would need FSR 4 to push to or past the 60 FPS mark. That being said, it is a great GPU to have on your side, as it easily gets the job done without burning a hole in your pocket.

Robust build quality
For starters, this has a 2.5-slot design, meaning that when you install it, the lower PCIe slots on your motherboard will be free for use. There are plenty of design elements to ensure that it keeps running cool, such as the phase-change thermal pad that melts to fill the spaces and eliminate air bubbles for excellent heat dissipation, a vented backplate to let the air flow through the GPU, and triple axial-tech fans. To protect the main GPU chip, adhesive is applied to all corners so that the risk of cracking is reduced, while the protective backplate also gives it a rigid build and doesn’t allow it to be bent easily.
12GB VRAM for productivity
12GB of VRAM is considered the entry-level option for professional and AI workloads. This will allow you to run 7B and 14B parameter models with ease, while mid-level content creation, such as video editing, can also be seamlessly tackled. It can house complex datasets, 4K textures, 3D pipelines, and more without hitting the memory limit, allowing it to process heavy data efficiently.
