This MSI Codex RX gaming PC has a pretty solid discount at Newegg right now, coming in at $1,429.00 with $270 off. As for pricing, that’s a touch more than what you’d typically pay for an RTX 5060 build, but what you’re getting here is something that packs more RAM and storage than what you’d typically see around the $1,200 – $1,300 mark. Instead of 16GB of DDR5, you’ve got 32GB, and instead of 1TB, there’s 2TB. This makes this build better for handling modern gaming requirements and more complex creative tasks, and gives you enough room for a large game collection. In terms of the CPU, it’s a pretty standard but still good Intel Core i5-14400F. For the RTX 5060, it’s appropriate, and it helps keep overall costs down, as it’s an older LGA 1700 socket option versus a newer LGA 1851 alternative.

This is the type of PC that’s designed for excellent FHD gaming performance, productivity, and relatively demanding creative work, like photo and video editing. If you want something with an RTX 5060 that’s a level-up from a more budget-friendly option, but still somewhat affordable, then this MSI build is worth considering while it’s still discounted.

What we like about this MSI Codex R2 gaming PC

A brilliant entry-level 50-series GPU with modern features

The RTX 5060 has 8GB of faster GDDR7 VRAM, 4th-gen ray tracing cores, and 5th-gen tensor cores, which not only come together to ensure better gaming performance but can also be leveraged in various creative tasks, too. This card performs best in FHD, but with DLSS and MFG, it can be used for QHD with the right settings, although the VRAM is a limiting factor. For esports and competitive gaming, playing AAA titles at high frame rates and relatively high settings, it’s a winner for the price.

Budget-friendly, but appropriate PCU for the RTX 5060

The Intel Core i5-14400F has 10 cores, 16 threads, a 4.7GHz boost clock speed, and 20MB L3 cache. That’s a solid offering that allows for decent multitasking capabilities, with good gaming performance. The ing thing here is that it’s an affordable choice that’s not overkill for the RTX 5060, but is still an excellent pairing.

More RAM and storage than your typical RTX 5060 build

With 32GB of DDR5 and a 2TB SSD, this PC is much better positioned for the requirements of modern AAA games, as mentioned. It will also help with smoother gaming performance, with less micro-stuttering in asset-heavy titles, like open worlds and simulators, for example.

Things to consider

I’d say that $1,400 is the sweet spot for an RTX 5060 build, personally, as you’ll get enough RAM to give it some future-proofing and still get a decent CPU, without it being so expensive that you may as well go for an RTX 5070 PC instead. That being said, if you did want a significant upgrade, look to spend roughly $1,800 and grab yourself something like an RTX 5070, Intel i7-14700F build with 32GB of DDR5. This will be better across the board for QHD gaming and multitasking, but will remain competitively priced against newer Core Ultra alternatives.
