This Lenovo Legion 5i gaming laptop delivers a strong balance of gaming power, portability, and display quality. Its OLED screen, RTX 5070 graphics, and high-performance Intel HX processor make it especially appealing for users who want a premium gaming experience without stepping up to a much larger or more expensive flagship system. The great contrast, brightness, and color replication also make it a great option for creative use alongside gaming. For just $1,429.99, you’re getting a lot for your money with this great deal.
The combination of the Core i7-14700HX and RTX 5070 should make this a strong performer for modern gaming at the laptop’s native 2560×1600 resolution. Esports titles should run comfortably at very high frame rates to take advantage of the 165Hz panel, while DLSS support should help maintain strong performance in more demanding AAA games with ray tracing enabled. The OLED display is one of the system’s biggest strengths in everyday use, particularly for users who value contrast, HDR performance, and image quality as much as raw frame rates. The 16GB DDR5 memory is adequate for gaming today, though heavier creator workloads or advanced multitasking users may eventually benefit from upgrading to 32GB.
What we like about this Lenovo Legion 5i gaming laptop
Strong CPU and RTX 5070 combination
The Legion 5i pairs Intel’s Core i7-14700HX with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070, giving it a strong balance of gaming and productivity performance. The 14th Gen HX-series processor is designed for high-performance laptops, with boost speeds up to 5.4GHz and a hybrid core layout that handles gaming, multitasking, streaming, and creator workloads well. Combined with the RTX 5070 and its GDDR7 memory, the system should comfortably handle modern AAA titles at 1440p-class settings while also supporting DLSS 4 and ray tracing features.

Excellent PureSight OLED display
One of the standout features here is the 15-inch 2560 x 1600 OLED PureSight display. The WQXGA resolution gives games and creative applications noticeably sharper detail than standard 1080p panels, while the 165Hz refresh rate keeps motion smooth in competitive titles. OLED technology also brings the deep blacks, near-instant response times, and high contrast that make games and HDR content look far more immersive. Lenovo’s inclusion of factory calibration and strong color accuracy further improves the display for editing and media work.
Slimmer and more portable than many gaming laptops
At roughly 4.4 pounds and 0.85 inches thick, the Legion 5i is more portable than many bulky desktop-replacement gaming laptops. Lenovo has clearly targeted users who need a system capable of handling gaming, coursework, travel, and productivity in one machine. Battery efficiency also looks solid for the category, with an 80Wh battery and support for rapid charging via USB-C helping make the laptop more practical away from a desk.
Legion cooling and AI optimization features
Lenovo’s Legion Coldfront: Hyper cooling system combines large heat pipes, aluminum heatsinks, and stealth-style fans to help maintain stable performance under load while keeping noise levels more controlled than some thinner gaming systems. The Lenovo AI Engine+ software is another useful inclusion, automatically adjusting system settings and power allocation to improve frame rates and responsiveness in supported games and applications.
Who’s this RTX 5070 laptop deal suitable for?
The Legion 5i is ideal for gamers, university students, and creators who want a laptop capable of serious gaming without moving into extremely heavy or oversized desktop-replacement territory. It suits users who want strong 1440p gaming performance, a high-quality OLED display, and enough portability for travel, classes, or hybrid work setups.
