RX 9070 GRE 12GB falls back to its best-ever price – an offering of hope for 1440p gaming
Table of Contents
The Asus ATS Radeon RX 9070 GRE 12GB isn’t part of the Amazon Prime Big Deal Days event, but it’s still back at its best price. Having recently spiked to an eye-watering $790, the 12GB 1440p-friendly card is back down to $530. A midrange 12GB graphics card under $600 is rare these days, with the huge pricing we’ve seen for the RTX 5070. And that makes this a standout offer for gamers. Here’s why we’d pick it and what you need to know.

Why we’d pick the Asus ATS Radeon RX 9070 GRE 12GB
Better value than an RTX 5060 Ti 16GB
For gamers, there are few true midrange graphics card options right now. At just over $500, this RX 9070 GRE beats the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB overall. But it should also perform close to the Nvidia RTX 5070 (currently $800+ regardless of model). The choice is simple: if you’re a gamer and you have around $500 for 1440p, you have the RX 9070 GRE or…not much else.
Smooth 1440p gaming
The Asus ATS Radeon RX 9070 GRE 12GB is a 1440p graphics card, capable of smooth gaming at that resolution (and blistering 1080p performance, too). So if your budget doesn’t go further, this card fits the 2K profile well. Ray Tracing and Path Tracing performance is better this generation, too, thanks to AMD’s FSR 4 – where available.

2.5-slot with substantial cooling
Asus’ ATS card measures 12 inches (L) x 4.95 inches (W), and it is a 2.5-slot solution, making it easier to fit into compact builds. Plus, the triple Axial-tech fans should push plenty of air to keep the card at sensible temperatures. It’s also a dual-BIOS-mode card so you can choose ‘Performance’ or ‘Quiet’ modes, with the former offering more aggressive fan curves.
What to consider before you buy
At release, the RX 9070 GRE 12GB seemed somewhat overpriced. How things change: at $530, this is a good deal for a 12GB 1440p graphics card. The caveats are twofold: thanks to Nvidia’s DLSS and more reliable ray tracing, the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB can come out on top when titles demand more. Additionally, if the used market is viable, the RX 7900 GRE is a potential alternative worth investigating. However, if buying new is key and 1440p is crucial, this deal looks very good indeed.
