Ryzen 7 8700F, RTX 5070 gaming PC with 2TB SSD drive offers a welcome discount as prices soar
Table of Contents
Gaming PC deals seem limited at the moment, likely driven by the ongoing rise in graphics card and other component prices. We have spotted one worth noting on Amazon, though. The MSI Codex Z2 Gaming Desktop is a Ryzen 7 8700F, RTX 5070 gaming PC with 32GB of DDR5 6000MHz RAM and a 2TB SSD. Amazon lists the typical price for the system as $2,085.59, but the current price is $1,949. That’s a $136.59 (7%) saving.
Why we’d pick this MSI Codex Z2 gaming PC
A proper 1440p gaming PC
There’s no doubt that the RTX 5070 is a proper 1440p graphics card. As our 5070 review points out, it can even push to 4K in some less-demanding titles. Plus, it shares the Nvidia Blackwell line’s feature set, including support for the latest DLSS and impressive NVENC encoding. It’s also a good GPU to pair with future CPU upgrades.
Capable midrange CPU
The Ryzen 7 8700F is a graphics-less 8-core, 16-thread processor and a decent midrange option for mixed use. It’s a Socket AM5 processor, so this system can grow with your needs if you want a drop-in CPU upgrade down the line. It’s capable for gaming, productivity, and starting with streaming or media creation.

Healthy storage and RAM
The standard capacity SSD for a gaming PC is 1TB, so the Codex Z2’s 2TB SSD is good – albeit expected at this price. It will be enough to hold your operating system, apps, and a good selection of games. The 32GB of DDR5 6000MHz RAM is also a healthy inclusion, providing plenty of memory for daily productivity, gaming, and more.
What to consider before you buy
As with components, gaming PCs are seeing an upward trend in pricing. That makes it even more important to ensure that you’re happy with the specs of any gaming PC you buy and that the price works for you. Comparing specs and prices before you commit is sensible, especially if you’re investing in a PC for years (and upgrades) to come.
