There seems to be a shower of welcome CPU deals right now, and there’s good news for Socket AM4 PC owners. If you’ve considered boosting your build with a Ryzen 9 5000 series CPU for content or more dev-based reasons, both AMD Ryzen 9 processors are at low prices.

Gamers, read this first: while the exceedingly rare Ryzen 7 5800X3D is the gaming king for Socket AM4, retail stock is almost non-existent, and the Ryzen 7 5700X3D would be the next best at around $280 (at the time of writing). The two Ryzen 9 options below are the most powerful mixed-use CPUs an AM4 system can have for more than gaming. Here, we’ll look at each CPU’s current Amazon deal and the low prices being offered.

AMD Ryzen 9 5950X deal

The flagship Socket AM4 processor, the Ryzen 9 5950X, is now at its lowest price since July 2024. Its new Amazon deal has it at $311, a $36 (10%) drop on its typical price. At just $4 above its lowest-ever price, this is the second-best time to buy the processor in its history based purely on cost.

Ryzen 9 5950X

16-core, 32-thread, unlocked desktop processor, Socket AM4, 4.9 GHz Max Boost, 72 MB of cache

Why we like the AMD Ryzen 9 5950X

A CPU designed to stay relevant in productivity, the 5950X is a decent pick for gaming but not gaming alone – this CPU excels in more professional, content creation, and virtual machine scenarios, where multi-core performance is prioritized. The 5950X has always been the more professional pick among the 5000 series, for things like dev work and CPU encoding.

  • Core specs â€“ The Ryzen 9 5950X is a 16-core, 32-thread CPU with a 3.4GHz base speed and 4.9GHz boost speed, and a TDP of 105W.
  • Performance â€“ This CPU is suited to productivity and professional workloads where multi-core performance is required, but it can easily support high-quality gaming too.
  • Socket AM4 â€“ This CPU is the flagship CPU of AMD’s Socket AM4 platform.
  • Cooler included – No cooler included, and a liquid AIO cooler is recommended.

AMD Ryzen 9 5900X deal

The value option versus its bigger and more capable sibling, the Ryzen 9 5900X, is now $236, which is $75 cheaper than the current deal on the 5950X, so not to be sniffed at. At $236, this CPU is now the lowest price seen this year, and $21 above its lowest ever price. Again, a very good deal.

AMD Ryzen 9 5900X

This AMD Ryzen 9 5900X processor deal at $220.00 (61% off) offers incredible value for high-performance gaming and multitasking with 12 cores and 24 threads. It delivers elite 100+ FPS gaming performance, supports overclocking, and has a 4.8 GHz boost. Compatible with PCIe 4.0 on AM4 motherboards, it's ideal for advanced builds.

Why we like the AMD Ryzen 9 5900X

Purely for value, the 5900X makes sense if you want a professional, content, production, or dev-focused system but on a lower budget than needed for the 5950X. Again, you can still game with the 5900X, but it isn’t what this processor is all about. So, if you can’t justify stretching your budget to the 5950X, and don’t need all 16 cores it offers, this CPU will deliver a little less multi-core performance, but a higher base clock for less money.

  • Core specs – The Ryzen 9 5900X is a 12-core, 24-thread CPU with a 3.7GHz base speed and 4.8GHz boost speed, and a TDP of 105W.
  • Performance – This CPU is suited to productivity and content creation workloads where multi-core performance is required, but value is key. It’s an able gaming CPU too.
  • Socket AM4 – This CPU sits below the 5950X in terms of mixed-use performance.
  • Cooler included – No cooler included, and a liquid AIO cooler is recommended.

Who are these Ryzen 9 5950X and 5900X deals for?

These deals deliver really good value for anyone looking to upgrade a Socket AM4 content-creation or underpowered dev system, to get better performance and more cores on hand when needed. Content creators, streamers and devs can benefit most from these more ‘professional’ processors.

If you want a CPU that can encode, render, support virtual machines, and handle dev work, the current deals on these Ryzen 9 CPUs are quite literally the second best we’ve seen for each. If you also enjoy gaming, that’s great, and paired with the best GPUs for the 5900X and 5950X, you can have a very capable gaming setup too. But if you want a gaming-focused CPU, a 5800X3D or (much more available) Ryzen 7 5700X3D would be good options.
