Table of Contents
The Samsung 49″ Odyssey G9 is one of the best gaming monitors and certainly one of the most recognizable on the market. Its sheer size makes it very tempting for gaming and productivity, as you can see more of your workflow and playing field. The curve of this monitor wraps around your FOV, driving an extremely immersive viewing experience. With a 240Hz refresh rate and a dual QHD resolution, it is like having two 27″ QHD monitors side by side without any bezels in between. You can have an amazing gaming experience, but single-player/open world games will be better suited, as the 32:9 aspect ratio isn’t ideal for FPS gaming.
Besides that, FreeSync Premium Pro and the overall gaming specifications will ensure that you have a stable gaming output. On top of that, it can be connected to different devices and streamline productivity, so it isn’t just limited to gaming. For a sale price of $797.99, we think it is a steal and certainly worth checking out right before Prime Big Deal Days.

What made the Samsung 49″ Odyssey G9 stand out
For starters, this monitor is perfect for gaming and productivity, but let’s focus on gaming first. When you have a 49″ screen in your hands with a 240Hz refresh rate and a 1ms response time, this means that you’ll get to see more of the playing field and can easily tackle FPS and racing games. While the 32:9 aspect ratio might not be a good fit for FPS, you can still play shooters without any issues.

However, where it’ll really shine is racing sims, as it’ll give you a real feel of sitting in the driver’s seat and moving really fast. Depending on the in-game settings, you can reduce the blur, but the refresh rate will keep it super smooth and responsive. This will allow you to react quickly and see details clearly, such as the track, signs, or markers that you have places for braking, gear changes, etc.
On top of that, FreeSync Premium Pro will keep screen tearing from impacting your gaming sessions, and the curvature will wrap around you, bringing next-level immersion to the table. That being said, the same can be said for movies as well; you just need a good sound system or headphones, and you can thoroughly enjoy watching movies.
When it comes to productivity, you can easily see more of the data, such as timelines, graphs, and spreadsheets, enabling you to tally various aspects without having to switch tabs or windows, disrupting your flow. You can also connect different devices with it, for example, a laptop for light work and a gaming PC for heavy lifting, and split the screen for these two inputs or lay one input over the other, however you prefer.
