Table of Contents
One of the best gaming laptops on the market is the HP HyperX Omen Max 16, and the reason for that is that it pairs two of the most dominant components together: the Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus and the RTX 5090, both of which are among the best processors and graphics cards on the market. This lethal combination makes this monstrosity perfect for workstation-level workflows, AI, simulations, development, and more, as anything less than that would be wasting its potential.
The rest of the hardware is equally impressive, as it features a 16″ OLED display with a QHD+ resolution, a 240Hz refresh rate, and 100% DCI-P3 coverage. So, excellent visuals are guaranteed, but another aspect that stood out was that you can push the RAM and SSD up to 128GB and 8TB, respectively, which is completely insane and gives you the option to completely future-proof this gaming laptop. There is more to unpack with this gaming laptop, but the bottom line is that it is worth it for the sale price tag of $4,499.

RTX 5090
When you add the RTX 5090 alongside the 290HX Plus, you’re set for the short and long term. This level of hardware will keep this gaming laptop firing for years to come without making you feel like you’re falling behind. There is a reason why the RTX 5090 is the best GPU on the planet, as native 4K gaming is a walk in the park for it, and it is more suitable for productivity such as AI, rendering, content creation, streaming, and more. 24GB GDDR7 VRAM will allow you to tackle heavy workflows without compromising efficiency.
240Hz OLED display
The 16″ display of this gaming laptop is amazing, but the OLED panel is what makes it truly tempting and premium. The OLED contrast, colors, and quality are unrivaled, and this means that movies, games, and other media will appear in the best quality possible. This is further bolstered by the 100% DCI-P3 coverage as this will churn out vivid colors and make it suitable for creators to boot. When it comes to gaming, you’ll have super smooth gameplay with a 240Hz refresh rate, and the 5090 will deliver high FPS, as QHD+ is very easy for it to render. The 16:10 aspect ratio makes the display more spacious, perfect for gaming and work.
Insane RAM and SSD upgrade capacity
This gaming laptop comes with 32GB DDR5 RAM and a 2TB SSD, which are great offerings, but the fact that you can take these numbers up to 128GB DDR5 RAM and 8TB is what blew our minds away. These specs are overkill for general workflows; however, if you’re in a field where you have to handle multiple resource-intensive workflows in parallel, having more system memory will streamline that. 8TB of storage will allow you to install a large library of games, creative and AI apps, and other media with peace of mind that there is still plenty to go around.
