I’m spotting some pretty decent deals on Andromeda Insights gaming PCs right now at Newegg, especially if you’re after something with an RX 9070 XT. This Spectra prebuild is going for its best price in 30 days, with a solid $300 discount, and is now just $1,499.99.

Most RX 9070 XT builds hover between $1,800 and $2,000 from my experience, so this is certainly one of the more affordable options out there. As expected, its RAM, CPU, storage, cooling, and case size are scaled back to make it more accessible, but it’s still an impressive PC in its own right. Personally, I think it makes for a worthy alternative to a similarly priced RTX 5070 prebuild. Read on for a quick breakdown of this PC’s key components and what this configuration brings to the table.

What you need to know about this Andromeda Insights Spectra gaming PC

Its graphics card is excellent for QHD and 4K gaming

With the RX 9070 XT, you’re getting a hefty 16GB of VRAM, albeit slightly older GDDR6. This is the big selling point, as from a price-to-performance perspective, you’re getting something that can handle higher-resolution textures and even more demanding creative workloads better than a card with 8GB or 12GB. It also benefits from newer RDNA 4 architecture, which brings with it improvements to ray tracing and AI capabilities, plus AI upscaling in the form of FSR 4.

It features an excellent, budget-friendly AM5 CPU

The Ryzen 5 9600X is a quality AM5 processor that packs 6 cores, 12 threads, a 5.4GHz boost clock speed, and 32MB L3 cache. It’s an efficient CPU, and for the RX 9070 XT and a smaller build with a tower cooler, it’s a smart pick that’s going to be great for gaming while still remaining cost-effective.

High-speed DDR5 RAM and enough for gaming

16GB may not be perfect for heavy creative work, but in this case it’s fine if you’re using this machine for gaming primarily. What’s more, it’s not slow either, coming in at 6000MHz, which is much faster than 4800Mhz options I sometimes come across in more budget-friendly builds.

1TB SSD provides decent storage, especially for purely gaming usage

Again, 2TB would be better for hybrid workstation and gaming usage, but 1TB is still fine for most people. Importantly, it keeps initial costs down, and ensures you’re not overspending on storage you may never need.

Things to consider

While this build is on a more future-facing AM5 platform and packs an 850W PSU and B850M motherboard, it’s not exactly primed for major upgrades. Opting for something larger with a 360mm AIO cooler and more fans would be preferable if you’re thinking of upgrading to a more powerful Ryzen X3D CPU in the future. That being said, this build, as it stands, is excellent.
