There are some pretty impressive discounts going on TCL’s Amazon-exclusive lineup of mini-LED TVs, and I’d say that this model would be my pick for a larger screen at a very competitive price point. This 85-inch TCL QM64L Series TV is now down to its best price ever on Amazon, with a massive $500 discount dropping it to $999.99.
As always, if you’re short on time, here are the key things you need to know about this TV. First off, it’s a QD-mini LED TV, which basically means that its panel technology is superior to your standard LED/ LCD models, largely because it’s made up of smaller ‘mini’ LEDs that allow it to be more precise with color, contrast, and brightness. It’s the type of display that’s going to make everything look more lifelike, cinematic, and atmospheric, and with its wide HDR compatibility, you can enjoy everything from live broadcasts to movies with enhanced picture quality, too. On the performance front, you’ve got a 144Hz refresh rate with gaming features designed to handle high framerates while reducing screen tearing and stutter. In essence, it’s similar to a gaming monitor, so it’s a great shout for powerful consoles and PCs.

There are more standout features that I’ll go into below, but these are the main takeaways here. This is TV that’s going to deliver excellent picture quality, brilliant motion handling for gaming and watching sports, and epic immersion thanks to its massive 85-inch size. For under $1,000, I think it’s one of the standout deals I’ve come across in the build-up to Prime Day.

More standout features of this TCL 85-inch QM64L series TV
TCL Halo Control System helps reduce blooming
Mini-LED TVs can run into haloing, which is basically when a bright object looks like it’s glowing a little when against a dark background, but with TCL’s advanced Halo Control System, this is minimized for much better picture quality than your typical, lower-end mini-LED TV.
Matte HVA panel reduces glare and reflections
Available on the larger models, like this one, this coating is a game-changer as it’ll dramatically reduce glare and reflections, but while still preserving picture quality.
Game Accelerator 288 is great for smooth, high fps gaming
This feature helps reduce screen tearing and stutter when gaming at high framerates, making it an especially good TV to play racing games and competitive first-person shooters on.
TCL AIPQ Pro processor helps enhance your visual and audio experience further
This processor can do everything from upscaling lower resolution content to near 4K quality, making on-screen motion look smoother, and controlling this TV’s backlight for the best picture quality possible, all on the fly without you having to do anything.
User friendly and a good pick for smart homes
With Fire TV, you’re getting a very easy-to-use system that lets you browse and find content in fairly unique ways, and it’s also ready and waiting to be paired with various smart home devices, like lighting, cameras, and more, making it a good central hub.
Should you buy this TCL 85-inch QM64L series TV?
This is well worth considering in my opinion, if you’re looking for something home-theatre-worthy, that delivers outstanding picture quality, strong gaming performance, and exceptional value for money. There are other options you could go for that may have even more powerful processors or, in most cases, QD-OLED displays, but the leap in price is significant at this 85-inch size, to say the least. I’d say that this TCL TV offers an ideal middle ground, and I reckon it’s going to be a very popular deal this month.
