I’m spotting a fair few discounted RTX 5070 gaming PC right now at Newegg, and it’s a great time to go for them, as many have a game bundle thrown in for free. This Thermaltake RTX 5070 build packs an Intel Core Ultra 5 250K Plus, 16GB of DDR5, and a 1TB SSD, and has been knocked down to $1,549.99 with a solid $250 discount. That’s not bad at all, given what it brings to the table. As for the game bundle, you’re getting Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis and Star Wars Galactic Racer, valued at around $120. I’d call that a win, as both games look pretty epic and should play very well on this PC, too.

You likely already know about the RTX 5070, but here’s a quick refresh. It packs 12GB of GDDR7 VRAM, is built on Blackwell architecture, and is essentially a very strong QHD gaming pick. Not only that, but it has 12GB of memory and has more robust raw rendering power than the RTX 5060, making it a good option for video editing and other creative workflows. The CPU here is interesting, too, as it’s geared towards hybrid usage rather than outright gaming. It features 14 cores, 14 threads, a 5.3GHZ boost clock speed, and 24MB L3 cache. Its higher core count sets it apart from many of the Ryzen X3D models, which makes it arguably more suitable for heavy multitasking, creative workflows, streaming, and more. Essentially, it’s a do-it-all style of CPU that doesn’t break the bank and is very appropriate for the RTX 5070.

RAM and storage are where this build scales back a bit, but they’re a big factor when it comes to overall pricing. 16GB of DDR5 is adequate for gaming, but more is always more. Similarly, 1TB is fine, but with modern AAA games tipping the scales at over 100GB in some cases, it may fill up quickly.

Who is this Thermaltake gaming PC for?

It’s competitively priced for an RTX 5070 PC, for sure, as some similarly priced prebuilds can be a little lacklustre in the CPU and design departments from my experience. What’s good to see here is that it uses a newer LGA 1851 socket CPU, so it’s far more future-facing than an Intel 14th-gen build. On top of that, going for an established brand like Thermaltake is a great way to go if you don’t fancy risking it with some potentially cheaper alternatives from less recognisable brands on the market.

Things to consider

Of course, for outright gaming performance, something like a Ryzen 7 7800X3D would be your best bet if you wanted to keep costs relatively near to this, but it will be more expensive. Opting for something with 32GB of DDR5 is going to be preferable, too, but at the end of the day, it’s all about what your budget allows.
