Skytech gaming PCs have been getting some decent discounts recently on Amazon, even after the flurry of deals in the Spring Sales. Right now, we’ve spotted an excellent RTX 4070 option that’s had its price slashed by almost $300, and is currently sitting at a reasonable $1399.99. Not bad considering what you’re getting, as we’ll go into.
Here’s a quick breakdown of some of the key features of this gaming PC, plus who we think it’s best suited for.
Skytech Gaming Shiva II Gaming PC Desktop – AMD Ryzen 7 5700X 3.4 GHz
What you need to know about this PC
- RTX 4070 graphics card: The RTX 4070 does very well at 1080p at high-setting, and performs well at 1440p too. For 4K, you can get higher fps, but it may start to struggle a little when you ram on ray tracing. Either way, to get the most out of this card, you’ll want to lean towards 1440p, and pair it with a good QHD, high refresh rate monitor.
- Ryzen 7 5700X: We reviewed this CPU, and were impressed with its single core performance (good for gaming), and its decent performance with multi-threaded tasks. It boasts 8 cores and 16 threads, with a boost clock speed of 4.6 GHz, and an L3 Cache of 32MB. There are other punchier CPUs around that can sometimes be seen paired with lightly higher-end GPUs, but this is still a good option that will play a part in reducing the overall price of this rig.
- Good storage: You’ve got an 1TB SSD here, which is more than enough for a decent sized gaming library. It’s not the biggest, but again, going larger will drive up the price of this gaming PC. The same goes for RAM, and in this you’re getting 16GB of the slightly older version, DDR4, which is still good.
- Great airflow and case: This mid-tower gaming case features tempered glass on the side, allowing you to see all the inner workings of the machine. It also allows for some of the RGB lighting, featured on the fans for instance, to light up your desk and surroundings. It’s a great looking PC, and in-line with Skytech’s commitment to combining functionality with design.
Is this gaming PC for you?
So this is more of a lower-mid level gaming PC that has decent, but slightly older components, which will more than do the job for gaming and other intensive tasks such as video-editing or rendering. I’d say that this gaming PC is great for anyone looking to create more of a ‘starter’ build, and try to keep costs down with the surrounding components. Because this PC’s sweet spot will be 1440p gaming, that opens the door to some fantastic QHD monitors, most of which are very affordable and sitting within the $300 – $400 range for something pretty high-end. The saving here actually allows you to grab one of these monitors – so you could get everything you need in one swoop.
