This brilliant ASUS TUF gaming monitor is still holding strong at its lowest price ever on Amazon at just $149.99, and it’s well worth a look if you’re after something budget-friendly that’s ideal for high FPS, FHD gaming. What you’re getting here is a fast IPS display, with a 240Hz refresh rate and a very low 0.3ms response time, and sized at 25 inches. This is an excellent combination that’s very well suited for competitive play. It also packs FreeSync Premium, which helps reduce stuttering and screen tearing, and features low framerate compensation, which keeps everything smooth even with major framerate dips. On top of that, you’re also getting ASUS’ own ELMB Sync technology, which helps to further improve motion clarity.

This gaming monitor leans closer to gaming performance than stunning HDR visuals, so it’s relatively basic when it comes to contrast, brightness, and color. It has a contrast ratio of 1000:1, which is pretty standard with IPS monitors, and a 99% sRGB color gamut, which should make everything look vibrant and punchy when gaming. For the price, it really does deliver the goods. Also, before checking out the monitor on Amazon, heads up: the product picture seems to be the 180Hz model, not the correct 240Hz model.

What we like about this ASUS TUF gaming 25″ 240Hz gaming monitor

Very strong gaming performance for the price

For $149.99, this is a very good monitor for high FPS gaming, especially as it features ELMB Sync, FreeSync Premium, and has a very low 0.3ms response time.

Vibrant color

99% sRGB is actually pretty good for a high fps, budget-friendly gaming monitor, as some models really treat color as an afterthought. At 99%, games look far less flat and lifeless, and it’s also quite good for general usage and even a touch of design work.

Wide viewing angles

IPS displays like this one are great if you don’t want to sit dead-centre all the time. If you’re someone who shuffles around, repositions, or wants to see what’s happening when you walk away from the screen itself, then an IPS is going to be a good way to go over a VA.

Is this monitor right for you?

I’d say that for high FPS FHD gaming, especially with first-person shooters, this monitor makes a lot of sense for the price. If you wanted better contrast, going for a VA monitor instead may be a better option. These tend to have 3000:1 contrast ratios, with the trade-off being that they don’t have as wide viewing angles. I’d go with a VA if you’re playing competitive games, but also enjoy slower-paced, more cinematic titles, too.
