Here’s a closer look at what makes this monitor stand out from the crowd, and what type of setup and usage it’ll pair well with.
ASUS ROG Swift 32” 4K OLED Gaming Monitor (PG32UCDM)
What makes this monitor stand out?
- QD-OLED: The absolute top-tier of display technology, that combines both QLED and OLED to produce vivid color, brilliant contrast, and exceptional brightness. The very top-end TVs are also QD-OLED, and they’re known for having the edge over OLED in brightness, making them an excellent choice for well-lit rooms.
- Vesa DisplayHDR 400: This is a certification only achieved when a monitor has a wide color gamut, good color accuracy, and a minimum brightness of 400 nits. An excellent sign that this display is going deliver the goods with both gaming and other usages, such as streaming or designing.
- 99% DCI-P3 gamut and Delta E < 2 color accuracy: In short, this pairing is usually spotted on professional creative displays, and means that this monitor is capable of reproducing a very wide range of colors incredibly accurately. A big win if you’re using it for creative purposes, but also a win when it comes to making games and films more lifelike.
- Protection against burn in: Burn in can occur with OLED displays, but technology has advanced to help minimize this risk. Here you’re getting a custom heatsink, graphene film, and advanced airflow design which work together to preserve the lifespan of this monitor.
- High refresh rate and low response time: This has a 240hz refresh rate, which means you can game at up to 240fps theoretically. While you may not get that high at 4K, it’s an excellent option to have should you want to use this for more fast-paced titles, such as first person shooters, where higher fps can give you a competitive advantage. It’s also got an impressive 0.03ms response time, meaning that the pixels can change color very quickly – reducing any pesky ghosting that can occur when the action speeds up.
- 4K at 32 inches: Absolutely the ideal size for 4K, and for most setups. Perfect for immersion, and not too big that it dominates your setup either.
Is this deal for you?
This monitor is definitely aimed at enthusiasts, and those who have a PC that’s got a powerful graphics card capable of 4K gaming at higher fps. Think an RTX 4080 build or similar, and you’ve got the right idea of what to pair this with. In fact, I spotted an excellent HP OMEN RTX 4080 Super pre-built that would go very well with this indeed, and is currently heavily discounted.
I’d say that this monitor is more for those who want to play visually impressive, immersive games, rather than titles that are bit more competitive. That really comes down to the size and resolution, both of which are a bit much if you’re planning on just using it for first person shooters. The size, resolution, and impressive color gamut also make this an excellent option for creatives too, as it’s akin to many of the high-end professional monitors such as the ASUS ProArt line.
Overall, a very good, versatile monitor to consider at this new price.
