This TP-Link Archer BE550 router combines tri-band Wi-Fi 7, 320MHz channels, Multi-Link Operation, 4K-QAM, six internal antennas, EasyMesh support, and an unusually strong complement of one 2.5Gbps WAN plus four 2.5Gbps LAN ports. Its greatest advantages will be seen in homes with multi-gigabit internet, fast local network storage, numerous connected devices, or newer Wi-Fi 7 clients capable of exploiting the 6GHz band and advanced wireless features. The combination of modern wireless technology and multi-gigabit Ethernet makes the BE550 a particularly capable foundation for a high-performance home network. Grab it now for 32% off!

The setup and management of this router is done through TP-Link’s Tether application on Android and iOS: this makes basic configuration accessible without requiring users to work entirely through a conventional browser-based router interface. Read below for more information on the various specifications that we like on this router, or see the bottom of the page for alternative router deals.

Tri-band Wi-Fi 7 connectivity

The TP-Link Archer BE550 is built around the Wi-Fi 7 standard, combining 2.4GHz, 5GHz, and 6GHz bands in a tri-band configuration. This gives compatible devices access to newer Wi-Fi 7 features while maintaining backward compatibility with older Wi-Fi generations, making the router practical for households containing a mixture of new and legacy hardware.

Up to BE9300-class wireless capacity

TP-Link rates the Archer BE550 for combined theoretical wireless speeds approaching 9.2Gbps across its three bands. This consists of up to 5,760Mbps on 6GHz, 2,880Mbps on 5GHz, and 574Mbps on 2.4GHz, although these figures represent aggregated maximum link rates rather than the download speed a single device should expect to achieve.

320MHz channel support

Wi-Fi 7 allows the Archer BE550 to use channels up to 320MHz wide on compatible portions of the 6GHz spectrum. Wider channels provide more spectrum for transmitting data simultaneously, helping suitably equipped Wi-Fi 7 clients reach substantially higher link rates than would typically be possible over narrower Wi-Fi 6 channels.

Multi-Link Operation is one of the most important additions introduced with Wi-Fi 7. Instead of forcing a compatible client to communicate through a single band or channel at any given moment, MLO can allow multiple links to be used together, potentially improving throughput, latency, or connection resilience depending on the client and network configuration.

4K-QAM and Multi-RU support

The BE550 also supports Wi-Fi 7 technologies including 4K-QAM and Multi-RU. Higher-order modulation can encode more information into each wireless transmission when signal conditions are sufficiently strong, while more flexible resource-unit allocation helps the router make more efficient use of available spectrum when multiple devices are connected.

Five 2.5GbE connections

One of the Archer BE550’s strongest features is its wired networking hardware. TP-Link provides one 2.5Gbps WAN connection and four 2.5Gbps LAN ports, allowing the router to support multi-gigabit internet services and fast local devices without restricting most connections to conventional Gigabit Ethernet.

Six optimized internal antennas

Six internally mounted antennas are combined with TP-Link’s wireless optimization technology and beamforming. Beamforming attempts to direct wireless energy more effectively toward connected clients rather than radiating signals uniformly in every direction, helping improve connection quality under suitable conditions.

EasyMesh expansion

EasyMesh compatibility allows the Archer BE550 to become part of a wider mesh network. Compatible routers, extenders, and powerline products can be added later to improve coverage across larger or more difficult properties while providing a more unified network than several independently configured range extenders.

HomeShield security features

TP-Link HomeShield adds network-security and management functionality, including parental controls and monitoring for connected IoT devices. A dedicated IoT network can also separate smart-home equipment from primary computers and personal devices, helping reduce the consequences if a poorly secured IoT product becomes compromised.

VPN client and server support

VPN functionality is integrated directly into the router. This can allow multiple home devices to use a remote VPN service without installing separate VPN software on each device, while supported configurations can maintain normal internet connectivity for other devices that do not need to use the tunnel.

Who should buy this WiFi 7 router deal?

The Archer BE550 is particularly well suited to households upgrading to multi-gigabit broadband or gradually adopting Wi-Fi 7 hardware. Its combination of 6GHz wireless, 320MHz channels, Multi-Link Operation, and full 2.5GbE networking means there is considerably more performance headroom than on routers limited to Gigabit Ethernet and Wi-Fi 6. It is also a strong option for gamers, high-bitrate streaming users, and households with many simultaneous devices. Wired PCs and consoles can take advantage of the four 2.5Gbps LAN ports, while smartphones, laptops, and other compatible wireless equipment can use the faster 5GHz and 6GHz networks. The BE550 also makes sense for users who expect their network requirements to grow. EasyMesh allows coverage to be expanded later without replacing the original router, while the 2.5Gbps WAN interface leaves room for internet packages exceeding 1Gbps.
