Moving away from the heavy and large gaming laptops (like the new Nitro and Predator models it just announced), Acer has gone to the opposite end, as it unveils its lightest Copilot+ PC yet. At IFA Berlin, the Swift Air 16 was revealed – a laptop that reportedly weighs under 1kg. Even with a rather impressive 16-inch display, the laptop is designed around portability, without compromising too much power.

It packs in the latest AMD Ryzen AI 7 350 CPU, created with AI workflows in mind, and the dedicated Copilot button gives it that Copilot+ laptop status, which enables the use of Recall, Click to Do, and improved Windows search. Enabling improved performance on the operating system will help with various tasks.

Users can choose between a 16-inch WQXGA+ AMOLED with a 120 Hz refresh rate or a WUXGA IPS display with a 60 Hz refresh rate option and a 16:10 aspect ratio for wide viewing and work space. The AMOLED option brings deep blacks, vivid colours, and exceptional clarity with full support for the DCI-P3 colour gamut and 400 nits peak brightness – ideal for designers and freelancers.

We should note that the ‘under 1kg’ claim is for the IPS model; the AMOLED option comes in just over. Still, they both use a magnesium-aluminum alloy to keep the build light and sturdy, and by offering four colors, they can offer some nice personalization. Battery life should also benefit from the lack of a dedicated GPU, as it uses a powerful APU instead to keep up with the performance required.

The Swift Air also offers some safety and security, utilizing a 2MP IR camera and privacy shutter, and it offers facial recognition for Windows Hello and good-quality video calls. It even manages to pack in a range of connectivity in both physical ports and wireless options.
