AMD continues runaway sales of RX 9070 XT as gap widens to Nvidia, according to large retailer

A report earlier this week revealed that large German retailer Mindfactory was selling over a hundred RX 9070 XT graphics cards in one day, compared to Nvidia’s RTX 5090 topping out at 20, putting AMD by far in the lead when it comes to discrete GPU sales. While this is a relatively small sample size in the grand scheme of things, it does represent a notable win for Team Red.
And now, it looks like AMD continues to increase its lead. This comes following news that the RX 9070 XT was the company’s best Radeon launch in history. CEO Lisa Su said in a recent interview that it sold “10x higher than previous generations” in its first week. Part of this is down to a lack of stock on Nvidia’s side, but there’s also no denying that AMD has produced a competitive product as part of the latest RDNA 4 line-up.
- GPU: Navi 48 XT
- Stream Processors: 4,096
- VRAM: 16GB GDDR6
- Memory Bus Width: 256-bit
- Base/Game/Boost clock speed: 1,660/2,400/2,970 MHz
- TBP: 304W
RDNA 4 (RX 9000 series) is still selling around 100 units per day at Mindfactory
In a continuation of their previous post, TechEpiphany on X has posted an updated look at the GPU sales this week. We can see that Nvidia has stagnated since the start of the week, while AMD has run away with the lead as it continues to sell around 100 RDNA 4 units a day. Last generation’s popular RX 7800 XT comes in second place with 50 units sold. Again, these results are relevant to Mindfactory and don’t paint the complete picture outside of Germany.
GPU | Units sold (this week) |
---|---|
AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT | 300 |
AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT | 50 |
Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 | 40 |
Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 Ti | 30 |
Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 | 30 |
Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 | 20 |
AMD Radeon RX 6750 XT | 10 |
AMD Radeon RX 7600 | 10 |
AMD Radeon RX 7700 XT | 10 |
Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 | 10 |
Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 Ti | 10 |
It’s also important to note that the non-XT variant of the 9070 is nowhere to be seen. It’s safe to say that this card has seen a lot less attention than the flagship RDNA 4 model, which we could speculate means AMD is producing much fewer of them. It’s also worth mentioning that while Team Red can put most of its attention into stocking up on one card, Nvidia is splitting its focus across the entire RTX 50 series range, which so far comprises the 5090 down to the 5070.
The Radeon RX 9070 XT compares most closely to the RTX 5070 Ti, and does so at an MSRP that is $250 cheaper. Of course, recommended pricing has been thrown out the window for the most part while demand remains high. Even still, earlier today, we saw new benchmarks for these two cards in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, which show the AMD card just pulling ahead.
