There have been rumors online lately about an incoming GPU price hike. We’ve already seen RAM and SSD prices spike due to memory module shortages, and the same issue is said to have delayed Nvidia’s next set of graphics cards, RTX 50 Super, by a few months. AMD GPU prices are also expected to be more expensive in the new year, with a 10% increase “at least”.

We’ve already seen one popular GPU partner for AMD, PowerColor, claim that prices will “kick up” next year, even urging any potential buyers to make their purchases before the end of the year, ideally during the Black Friday sales period. This may sound like sales talk, but the threat of price rises makes it a sensible suggestion.

10% price increase for Radeon GPUs, reportedly

Taiwanese publication, United Daily News, recently reported on the ongoing issue of memory price rises, noting that AMD graphics cards will get a price hike, while naming affected partners such as ASUS, Gigabyte, and PowerColor. The 10% figure has started to float around online, and this price increase is expected to impact the entire range of Radeon cards.

RX 6000 and RX 5000 series cards were recently put into ‘maintenance mode’ to focus on new features for RDNA 3 and RDNA 4, though AMD clarifies that the older cards will still get “game support for new releases”. Regardless, it would make sense for this GPU price increase to affect RX 7000 or newer cards, though we wouldn’t rule out older series either.

AMD’s latest GPUs belong to the RX 9000 series (8000 was skipped), headed by the flagship RX 9070 XT, which we suspect will be a popular choice for gamers looking to upgrade ahead of the new year. It’s worth noting that this is AMD’s second price change, following some minor restructuring in October. However, this 10% increase is certain to be much more noticeable for consumers.
