CES 2025 is taking place this week and we’ve already seen several big announcements. A few of those come from AMD, which has already shown off its new 9950X3D and 9900X3D CPUs, as well as upcoming mobile chips for AI laptops and more. We also already know about two new GPUs from Team Red, though they have yet to be shown off in full.

The RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT remain relatively secretive – especially in comparison to Nvidia’s new 50 series which has been unveiled with lists of game and synthetic benchmarks, chiefly to show off the improvements in DLSS 4 for the former. However, while AMD hasn’t yet shown off what the RX 9000 series can do, a benchmark has emerged online from tests done at CES 2025.

AMD Radeon RX 9070 tested in Black Ops 6

The news comes from Jacqueline Thomas at IGN, who has had some hands-on experience with a system reportedly featuring the RX 9070; the GPU is simply listed as ‘AMD RDNA 4 Graphics’ and is paired with the new AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D. Running at native 4K resolution with upscaling and frame generation turned off, the RX 9070 was able to push an average of 99 FPS in the Blacks Ops 6 benchmark tool.

The test also reveals that the RX 9070 features 16GB of VRAM, 9GB of which was utilized in this native 4K benchmark.

There was much anticipation for AMD to announce its new RDNA 4 graphics cards alongside FSR 4 in its CES keynote, but it never came to be. Even still, both the 9070 and 9070 XT were unveiled in a press release sent to media outlets – without revealing any specifications or performance stats. All we know so far are the board partners and its Q1 2025 release window. Thanks to this hands-on test from IGN, we can now understand the performance of the new series a little better.
