AMD is re-releasing the Ryzen 7 5800X3D to celebrate the 10th anniversary of AM4
Table of Contents
This year, AMD celebrates its 10th anniversary of AM4, which was released back in September 2016. The first processors to use the AM4 socket weren’t actually Ryzen, but AMD’s ‘Bristol Ridge’ APUs designed for office use and light gaming. The first-gen Ryzen CPUs (Ryzen 1000) arrived a few months later in March 2017, and the platform has been a success ever since.
AMD finally discontinued the 5800X3D in late 2024 after more than two years of service, as it was essentially replaced by the cheaper Ryzen 7 5700X3D that launched earlier that year. Because upgrading to DDR5 is more expensive than ever due to inflated RAM prices, the demand for AM4 remains high, so why not re-release one of the most popular CPUs of all time?
Ryzen 7 5800X3D 10th Anniversary Edition surfaces online
According to an image shared online, which looks like a presentation slide, AMD will be releasing a 10th anniversary edition of the Ryzen 7 5800X3D, at least in China. Translating the screenshot reveals that the processor will be available in Q2 2026 and the specs visible so far remain unchanged to the original version. We revisited the 5800X3D for review in early 2025 and it definitely still holds up as a top gaming CPU for those sticking to the AM4 platform.

According to HXL (the person who shared the image), it will be “identical to the original” – so nothing new to get excited about. The 5800X3D offers an 8-core, 16-thread design with up to 4.5GHz boost clock speed and 105 TDP. It was the very first 3D V-Cache-equipped processor that AMD released to the market, paving the way for the boatload of X3D chips that followed. The most recent is the world’s first consumer dual 3D V-Cache CPU, the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 Dual Edition.
