AMD’s latest Ryzen Threadripper Pro CPU with 96 cores, spotted for nearly $13K, has finally been benchmarked
Table of Contents
At Computex 2025 in May, AMD was keen to show off its latest Ryzen Threadripper 9000 series processors, the very top of the line being the 96-core Threadripper Pro 9995WX. The series promises to deliver a number of “ultimate workstation” processors and were penciled in for a July 2025 release date. Now that we’ve made it to July, a new listing for the flagship model has been spotted for a cool price of $12,793.88.
The 9995WX comes with 96 cores, 192 threads, up to 5.4GHz boost clock speed, and 384MB of L3 Cache. The PCIe 5.0 chip runs with a hefty 350W TDP, which is over double that AMD’s flagship gaming CPU, the Ryzen 9 9950X3D.
Threadripper Pro 9995WX listed at retailer
A new listing for the 9995WX has been spotted on ProVantage for “only” $12,793.88. It was predicted that it could cost around the $10-11K mark, though we should note that AMD’s Threadripper pricing has yet to get an official MSRP. For comparison, last generation’s flagship 7995WX has an MSRP of $9999. We’ve noticed that pricing for these workstation chips can fluctuate, with many of the last-gen models still only available for above their recommended price.

9995WX benchmarks recently got uploaded to Geekbench
In addition to the sighting on the U.S. retailer above, early benchmarks for the flagship workstation CPU have appeared on Geekbench. As you’d expect, the multi-core score is huge – 34% faster than the Ryzen 9 9950X3D. This is hardly a fair comparison, especially given the price difference, so we can compare it to the Threadripper PRO 7995WX instead. In this instance, the new flagship model is around 7% faster in single-core and 28% faster in multi-core.
| Benchmark | AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 9995WX | AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7995WX | AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D |
|---|---|---|---|
| Single-core | 2,800 | 2,622 | 3,403 |
| Multi-core | 30,170 | 23,558 | 22,538 |
AMD has already released its in-house benchmarks for the new Threadripper series, compared to the 7000 series. The company claims a 16% IPC performance uplift versus the previous generation. These early Geekbench results also seem to back up AMD’s claims of up to 26% faster speeds when comparing the two flagships.
