AMD’s Ryzen CPUs are outselling Intel by a huge margin, even APUs with old Vega graphics sold more
So far, 2025 has been a very successful year for AMD. The company continues to dominate the CPU market, especially among DIY PC builders and gamers. A new report from Mindfactory, one of Germany’s most popular tech retailers, shows that AMD CPUs are selling far better than Intel’s. The data, shared by TechEpiphany on X, covers week 28 of the year (July 7 – 13), and the numbers are pretty impressive.
According to the report, AMD sold 1,725 CPUs, accounting for 92.49% of all processor sales at Mindfactory during the week. Intel, on the other hand, only managed to sell 140 CPUs, making up the remaining 7.51% share. When you look at revenue, AMD generated $535,740 in sales revenue, compared to just $35,604 for Intel. That means AMD took 93.77% of the total revenue, leaving Intel with only 6.23%. On top of that, even Team Red’s older Vega-based APUs outsold the entire Intel lineup.
| CPU | Units Sold |
|---|---|
| Ryzen 7 9800X3D | 460 |
| Ryzen 7 7800X3D | 130 |
| Ryzen 5 9600X | 120 |
| Ryzen 7 9700X | 80 |
| Ryzen 5 5600 | 60 |
| Ryzen 9 9950X3D | 60 |
| Ryzen 7 5700G | 50 |
| Ryzen 5 7600X | 50 |
| Ryzen 7 5700X3D | 50 |
| Ryzen 7 5800X | 40 |
When it comes to specific CPUs, the most popular CPU was the Ryzen 7 9800X3D, with 460 units sold in a single week. This chip is well known for its excellent gaming performance, thanks to AMD’s 3D V-Cache technology. Following it were the Ryzen 7 7800X3D (130 units sold) and the Ryzen 5 9600X (120 units sold).
What’s also interesting is that AMD’s AM5 platform, their newest socket, accounted for 1,305 units. The older AM4 platform still did well too, with 420 units sold, showing that people are still happy to build or upgrade systems using the previous generation. AMD’s consistent support for AM4 likely plays a role in its continued success. Older AM4 Vega-based Ryzen APUs such as the 5600G, which was released in 2021, easily outdid Intel’s DIY CPU sales at the German retailer.
Intel didn’t have a great showing in this report. In fact, no Intel CPU made it into the top 10. The best-selling Intel chip, the Core Ultra 7 265K, sold just 10 units. Other sockets like LGA 1700, 1851, and 1200 had very low numbers, with 110, 20, and 10 units sold, respectively.
