AOC just announced four new displays to expand its G4 series of gaming monitors. Two models are simple refreshes to push the specs a little higher, while the AOC GAMING CU34G4 arrives as a cheaper alternative to the CU34G4Z, which the company announced last month. However, the most exciting of the bunch has to be the AOC GAMING U27G4R, which becomes AOC’s first monitor to implement ‘Dual-Frame’ technology.

The technology, which allows the monitor to “seamlessly switch between” 4K and 1080p output at 160Hz and 320Hz, respectively, is nothing new to the industry. However, it has proven to be a popular form factor in the past year or so for users who value an all-in-one solution for productivity and competitive gaming on the very same display.

Press release in full

Amsterdam, 7 May 2025 – AGON by AOC – the world’s leading gaming monitor brand – announces the launch of the innovative AOC GAMING U27G4R, a 27-inch (68.6 cm) gaming monitor featuring groundbreaking Dual-Frame technology. This first-of-its-kind monitor in the AOC line-up allows gamers to seamlessly switch between ultra-sharp UHD (3840×2160) resolution at 160 Hz and FHD (1920×1080) at a lightning-fast 320 Hz refresh rate, eliminating the need to choose between visual fidelity and competitive performance. Additionally, AOC is expanding the G4 series with three new models: the ultrawide curved 34-inch (86.36 cm) CU34G4 with 180 Hz refresh rate, and the 23.8-inch (60.5 cm) 24G4HA and the 27-inch (68.6 cm) 27G4HA, both featuring 200 Hz refresh rates.

Advanced flexibility for every gaming scenario

The U27G4R’s innovative Dual-Frame technology brings sophisticated versatility to AOC’s gaming monitor line-up. The UHD @ 160 Hz mode delivers breathtaking visual fidelity with a stunning 163 pixels per inch, ideal for cinematic gaming and content creation. Meanwhile, the FHD @ 320 Hz setting provides the competitive edge essential for fast-paced esports titles where every millisecond counts.

Built around a state-of-the-art Fast IPS panel, the U27G4R delivers exceptional response times of up to 1 ms GtG in both resolution modes, with 0.5 ms MPRT in UHD mode and 0.3 ms MPRT in FHD mode using the Motion Blur Reduction (MBR) setting.

Premium performance meets superior visual quality

The U27G4R with its Fast IPS panel excels in visual performance with DisplayHDR 400 certification and impressive colour reproduction covering 124.7% of the sRGB gamut area and 95.9% of the DCI-P3 area (CIE 1976). It also features PiP/PbP functionality, Anti-Blue Light technology, and Flicker-Free certification for comfortable extended use.

For connectivity, the monitor includes 2x HDMI 2.1 ports, 1x DisplayPort 1.4, and a USB 3.1 hub with four downstream ports for connecting peripherals.

The monitor’s design follows the sleek aesthetics of the G4 series, with a space-efficient esports-inspired base that maintains stability while maximising desk space. The matte black finish with subtle red accents presents a refined gaming aesthetic, while the ergonomic stand offers 130 mm height adjustment and tilt, swivel, and pivot functionality.

”The U27G4R embodies our deep appreciation for the gaming community. We’ve listened to their needs and created a solution that eliminates the trade-off between resolution and refresh rate. With this monitor, gamers can immerse themselves in stunning UHD visuals for cinematic experiences, or switch to FHD for the ultra-fast performance required in competitive esports – all with a simple, seamless transition.” says César Acosta, Gaming Product Manager at AGON by AOC.

Complete gaming solution with esports-focused features

The U27G4R is equipped with AOC’s comprehensive suite of gaming features, including Low Input Lag mode for near instantenous visual feedback, Shadow Control to brighten up dark areas, Game Colour to adjust saturation, and Dial Point, a crosshair overlay. For esports players, the FHD @ 320 Hz mode delivers great responsiveness in its class, while content creators can leverage the UHD @ 160 Hz mode without sacrificing smooth motion. The monitor supports Adaptive-Sync technology with both AMD and NVIDIA GPUs, while also being compatible with current-generation consoles at UHD @ 120 Hz with VRR (variable refresh rate).

Alongside its embedded OSD menu, the U27G4R features AOC’s G-Menu software, allowing users to adjust display settings, create and switch between custom profiles, and access gaming features directly from the desktop.

It offers exceptional contrast (2500:1), up to 1 ms GtG response time, and AMD FreeSync Premium support.
  • The AOC GAMING 24G4HA and 27G4HA are upgraded versions of the best-selling 24G4X and 27G4X mainstream gaming models, now featuring higher 200 Hz refresh rates compared to the 180 Hz of their predecessors.
