After a long legal battle between Apple and Epic Games, the Fortnite maker has now successfully brought Fortnite back to the iOS store, or at least, that was the plan. In a recent string of tweets on the platform X, Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney is once again seen taking shots at Apple, this time by pointing out Fortnite clones available on the App Store while it blocks attempts to bring the actual Fortnite back.

One of the clones Sweeney pointed out was a game called Fort Battle Royal Epic Shoot, which, by the looks and ratings, screams fake. iOS users who were on the hunt for a similar Fortnite title gave it a shot, and were instead met with “nothing but complete ads,” which was to be expected. Apple did eventually take action against this fake Fortnite and took it down, but it wasn’t long before the CEO spotted another one, Epic Survival Battle Royale 3D.

Apple has blocked Fortnite on the App Store

Soon after Tim Sweeney’s posts gained attention, a discovery was made that Apple appears to be selling ads for the term “Fortnite,” suggesting it profits from iOS gamers repeatedly checking if Fortnite is available on the App Store. However, this is not a new tactic. Apple has always done this and does not only target the term Fortnite, as searching “Brave” also shows ads for Chrome sponsors. It is just another flaw in the App Store, per the Epic Games CEO.

As for the actual Fortnite, despite Tim Sweeney tagging the App Store multiple times asking to put the game back, there has been no response. At the time of writing this, a new statement from the official Fortnite X account has come forward stating;

Apple has blocked our Fortnite submission so we cannot release to the US App Store or to the Epic Games Store for iOS in the European Union. Now, sadly, Fortnite on iOS will be offline worldwide until Apple unblocks it.

There’s no word on why Apple rejected Fortnite’s submission, and it’s also unclear why the Epic Games Store was also targeted. In the meantime, if you’re on a Mac, you can try playing Fortnite through cloud gaming services like GeForce Now, Amazon Luna, or Xbox Cloud Gaming.
