ASRock introduces new Creator series RX 7900 graphics cards: dual slot and 16-pin power

Table of Contents
Although the AMD RX 8000 GPU release is expected to be coming around the end of 2025, there still seem to be some new options coming out for the RDNA 3 graphics cards. As now ASRock has released the Creator models for the RX 7900 GPUs, opting for a lot more compact option and bringing the blower style option to the high-end Radeon cards. They do cut down the slot size, but certainly not the sound they make.
Although they are new over one and a half years since the original release of the cards, the price hasn’t dropped as much as we’d expect. The XTX model is in fact above the $1000 MSRP, whilst the XT is listed at $830 whereas plenty of other models are listed for a lot lower on Newegg where these can also be found. Although the product pages are up, the stock is not there, so if you’re keen on buying them, you’re going to have to sign up for a notification.

ASRock Creator GPU features and design
The Creator series is certainly one to keep things simple, below are the images for the cards as the two share the same design. With a simple front plate, there is only one blower fan on the right end while the IO side has a gaping hole for all the airflow created. Whilst on the backside it’s also rather simple, with most of the PCB exposed on one end that relies on chassis airflow to cool down what’s on there.
It does manage to keep the thickness to just two slots and measures in at 312 x 111 x 39 mm, although the length does add in 30mm for the power connector. As these AMD GPUs do use the 16-pin power connector, part of the ATX 3 PSU standard it has been featured on Nvidia GPUs, but these have had a history of melting. But these do use the updated 12V-2X6 connector that is supposedly more sturdy, so long as you keep a good distance without bending, there should be no problems.
This does allow for cluster installation without much sacrifice to airflow and might not be for home gaming builds but likely in the server side of things and enterprise settings. ASRock has said they are designed for efficiency with a vapor chamber cooling design and a 0dB mode under low usage settings.
