ASUS is joining the triple-mode monitor club by unveiling a new ‘ROG Godlike 27 Plus’ gaming monitor, arriving as part of its ROG 20th anniversary celebrations. So far, the gaming monitor has been announced in China (via Weibo) alongside a handful of other 20th anniversary gear, including pro controllers and a new gaming headset.

It ships with a native 4K resolution at 240Hz, while its two alternate modes allow you to step down to 1440p (QHD) and 1080p (FHD) at 400Hz and 488Hz, respectively. We saw our first triple-mode monitor at Computex, the MSI MPG OLED 322URDX36, offering up to 680Hz – so it’s easier to compare this new ASUS model to something like the Philips Evnia 27M4N5500PT.

What we know about the ASUS ROG Godlike 27 Plus so far

There’s still a limited amount of information about the panel, but it’s clear that the triple-mode feature is its main selling point. As a side note, since the name is just a translation so far, the international product name is yet to be confirmed. Likewise, ASUS has not revealed any release date or pricing details for the new ‘Godlike’ model.

Other features include “intelligent pixel enhancement” alongside AI-focused tech such as a “dynamic crosshair” and “dynamic shadow enhancement”. ASUS is yet to explain how this works, and there is no information regarding response time, brightness, or G-Sync/FreeSync support – also no word on whether the USB-C port offers power delivery.

There’s still much to learn about this gaming monitor, and we’re sure we’ll hear more about an international launch soon enough. Dual-mode monitors flooded the market soon after they became widely available, so we’re starting to think that triple-mode can be the new trend in high-end gaming displays.
