In case you missed it, Newegg kicked off its 4th of July Sales recently (a few days ahead of the date itself), and we saw a ton of great deals on tech, ranging from gaming PCs to electronic toolkits. One recent deal available on the site was for the original ROG Ally – the Z1 Extreme model, which had its price slashed from $649.99 all the way down to $448.99, making it one of the cheapest prices we’ve ever seen.

Gamers flocked to the deal, as it soon went out of stock. Then it was briefly available again, before quickly selling out for the second time. Despite being out of stock at the time of writing this, it’s worth keeping an eye on the listing in case it ever returns with the discount price tag. Or you can grab the same model from other sellers on Newegg for $549.99.

Old stock being sold off before new Xbox models?

ASUS ROG recently announced a collaboration with Xbox to produce two new Xbox-branded variants of the popular handheld. The ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X, now using AMD’s newest Ryzen Z2 processors; the Z2 A and Z2 Extreme, respectively. Sadly, we don’t yet know the price of these new versions – just the specs and the redesigned look with controller handles, which people have already called “ugly“.

With a new generation of ROG Ally handhelds soon hitting the market during this year’s holiday season, we could simply be seeing retailers dumping their stock of the older models. In other words, expect to see more deals like this in the future, especially as we draw closer to some of the biggest sales events of the calendar year, which is when the new Xbox-branded models are set to be released. There’s also Amazon Prime Day coming up on July 8th.
