Just before the release of ASUS ROG Ally X, the company rolled out a major overhaul for the Armory Crate SE (ACSE) to deliver the best performance on both handheld consoles. For Ally X, ASUS also released a list of recommended drivers. The ACSE 1.5 update included more intuitive controls, a new UI, better game profile customization, fine-tuning controls for each game, a one-stop hub for updates, and more.
However, after installing the latest update, several users reported having issues with the ACSE 1.5. According to some user reports we found on Reddit, ACSE 1.5 kept installing itself repeatedly, missed command center buttons, got stuck while scanning the games library, or had other issues.

To help resolve these Armory (or Armoury) crate issues, we found that a Reddit user posted a method that worked for them, while others reported success too. As per the Redditor, work through the following steps:
- Uninstall Armory Crate 1.5 SE either manually or with the uninstall tool
- Restart your ROG Ally or ROG Ally X
- Install ACSE 1.5 again. You can do this with the installer from the ASUS ROG website
- After installation, do not start Armory Crate. Instead, restart your Ally device.
- Start Armory Crate 1.5 SE and check if it works.
Note that uninstalling the ACSE 1.5 will also erase settings and customizations made so far. As per the comments on this Reddit thread, this fix has worked for most of the users. For some users, resetting app data worked as a fix for ACSE glitches. To reset, find the Armory Crate SE icon > press and hold the icon > select ‘App Settings’ in the Selection Menu > Find the Reset button and click on it > Restart your Ally device.
In case you missed it, ASUS launched the ROG Ally X, the successor to their first handheld gaming PC, the ROG Ally, on July 22nd. So far, ROG Ally X has received mixed reviews from reviewers and audiences. Following the release of ASUS ROG Ally X, the price of ROG Ally has been cut significantly. At the moment, ROG Ally is priced at $599 on Amazon.
