AYN has announced 7th and 8th pre-order batches for its Thor and Odin 3 retro handhelds, respectively. Both are available to order on the official AYN store in a range of different models and colors. At the same time, the company has confirmed more price hikes on the way. The first round of price hikes was in March – and it only gets worse as AYN dishes out new batches.

Just under two months have passed since AYN announced downgraded hardware for its Thor and Odin 3 handhelds, dropping from UFS 4.0 to slower USF 3.1 storage as a result of shortages. The price hikes are another setback for those purchasing these retro handhelds, so if you’re really hoping to get one, now’s a good time to do so before the costs increase yet again.

AYN Thor and AYN Odin 3 will be more expensive after latest batch

We imagine early adopters of the AYN Thor and AYN Odin 3 handhelds are glad they got their orders in early, as the prices only continue to rise. Orders from the current (7th & 8th) batches are due to ship in August with the USF 3.1 storage standard, rather than the USF 4.0 standard present in earlier batches (Thor batch 5 and Odin 3 batch 6 or earlier).

AYN has chosen not to reveal exactly how much the retro handhelds will increase by later this month. Last time they were raised, it was the Thor Max models with 16GB RAM that were affected, rising from $489 to $549 for the top 1TB storage model. This time around, both the Thor and Odin 3 will be affected, but we don’t yet know to what extent.

Below is the current (pre-hike) pricing, as of June 9th. AYN Thor is a Nintendo DS-style handheld, while the Odin 3 is akin to a PlayStation Vita.
