How to find the best Prime Day CPU deals
If you’re looking for a CPU deal on Prime Day, there are a few quick ways to get the best prices.
- Check other retailers: Sometimes Amazon may not always be the best price (although it usually is around Prime Day because it’s an Amazon-specific event).
- Use price checkers: Camelcamelcamel can help you track the prices of products on Amazon over time to make sure you’re getting the best deal.
- Don’t wait: A lot of Amazon’s deals are subject to availability, so that means once the item is gone, it is gone. It’ll likely return at full price after the sale.
- Check for post-sale deals: Contrary to the last point, sometimes retailers opt to lower prices just after Prime Day, but there’s no way to tell who will do this and by how much. If you find a deal you’re best off taking it to be safe.

Will Intel’s new CPUs affect the price of current generation CPUs?
Usually, we see a price drop in the previous generation of CPUs inside of a month after the release of the latest generation. Arrow Lake is expected to be announced just after Prime Day ends, so it’s likely we’ll see prices of the 14th generation drop as soon as Black Friday. This is usually done to get rid of old stock to make way for the new CPUs hitting the shelves. Remember to update to the latest microcode if you’re planning on an Intel 13th or 14th-generation CPU.
On the flip side, the new Arrow Lake range will be on a different socket than the current generation chips and motherboards. That means there is no direct competition between the two if you’re looking for a CPU for your LGA 1700 motherboard.
Should you wait until Black Friday for a CPU deal?
Black Friday tends to be a larger more involved sales period, whereas Prime Day is Amazon only. Although Amazon is massive and a world leader in online shopping, it can’t quite compete with the magnitude of Black Friday. The reason we mention this is because retailers are more likely to get involved in Black Friday, as it’s a larger event, resulting in more meaningful widespread price reductions.
There’s always the possibility that Prime Day will hold better CPU deals than Black Friday will, or maybe the opposite is true, you buy a CPU now, only to have it plummet in price for Black Friday. There’s no real way of knowing where and when prices are going to fall. All we know is if you can afford something, and it will make you happy, you should get it. If you’re forever waiting for the price to drop, it’s time you’re missing enjoying the product – and that goes for anything, not just CPUs.
