In case you haven’t heard, Black Myth: Wukong has been breaking all kinds of records, essentially putting in its bid for Game of the Year when it became the most-played game on Steam. It helped Steam rise to over 37 million concurrent players and has seen a ton of success. Off the back of that, we also noticed that it quickly became the top-played game on Steam Deck, a title it still holds as I write this.

So, if you’re a Steam Deck player, you may be interested in this neat little mod which should make it easier to map your controls – rather than having to base it on the default Xbox controller icon.

Steam Deck controller mapping mod for Black Myth: Wukong

First of all, you can check out this mod over on Nexus Mods, where it is available to download. It’s a pretty simple change, swapping out the usual controller layout for the Steam Deck gamepad. While it’s not the most groundbreaking modification out there, it’s nice to have since the vanilla game doesn’t support it.

If you’re interested in installing the mod, it is all explained on the mod page, but here’s a rundown:

  • Install the RE-UE4SS Mod Loader here
  • Extract it to BlackMythWukong\b1\Binaries\Win64
  • Install the controller mapping mod and extract the b1 folder to the game root directory
  • Add -fileopenlog to the Steam game launch options
