Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is set to launch on PC tomorrow, but ahead of its official release, the game has already leaked online. The leak appeared shortly after pre-loads went live on Steam, giving some users early access to the full game.

According to reports, the leak happened due to an issue with the pre-load files. Instead of being properly encrypted, a version of the game was reportedly made available in an unprotected state for a short period of time. While it’s unclear how long the files were exposed, it was apparently enough for someone to download the full game, which is around 113GB in size, and upload it to torrent sites.

The PC version of Death Stranding 2 wasn’t protected

Because the game does not use advanced DRM protection like Denuvo, it was relatively easy for users to access and share the files once they were available. As a result, some players are already able to play the PC version before its official launch. However, those using leaked copies will miss out on important features, especially the game’s online elements, which allow players to interact indirectly by sharing structures like roads and bridges.

Early reports from users who accessed the leaked version mention that it is not fully complete in terms of content. For example, some language options, including Russian voiceovers, appear to be missing. This suggests that the leaked build may not represent the final release version.

Aside from the leak, the PC version of Death Stranding 2 is set to bring several improvements. It includes support for modern upscaling technologies like DLSS, FSR, and XeSS, along with features such as frame generation, uncapped frame rates, and ultrawide display support. Players will also get access to additional graphics options like ray tracing, as well as full mouse and keyboard support and DualSense controller features.

While the leak is unfortunate for the developers, the official release is still right around the corner. Players who wait for the proper launch will get the complete experience, including all features, updates, and online functionality.
