Today is launch day for the latest Final Fantasy game. It’s not a mainline entry, but Final Fantasy Resonance is still a notable spin-off launching on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 1 & 2. Square Enix describes it as a “HD-2D” game that combines classic 2D sprites with a three-dimensional environment. It’s certainly one for fans of a more classic RPG (or JRPG) style.

The title has already been Steam Deck Verified, and its launch trailer has arrived. For console players, Resonance is already available to download following a midnight launch in most of the world. If you’re a PC gamer relying on Steam, however, then you’ll need to wait until later today for access, as it launches on Steam at 4 PM UTC. We’ve put together everything you should know below.

When will Final Fantasy Resonance release on PC today?

Since it’s already out on consoles, let’s focus on the PC launch. We’re basing the release times below on Steam’s official launch time, though it’s also available through Xbox on PC if you’d rather go that route. As mentioned before, it launches at 4 PM UTC, so if you’re wondering when that is in your local time, here are some time zone conversions:

  • US Pacific (PDT): 9 AM
  • US Eastern (EDT): 12 AM
  • United Kingdom (BST): 5 PM
  • Central Europe (CEST): 6 PM
  • India (IST): 09:30 PM
  • Singapore (SGT): 12 AM (October 23)
  • Japan (JST): 1 AM (October 23)
  • Sydney, Australia (AEDT): 3 AM (October 23)
  • New Zealand (NZDT): 5 AM (October 23)

There’s already a playable demo on Steam

There’s already a free demo for Final Fantasy Resonance on the Steam store page, which has been available since September 3. It includes the opening of the game, all the way through the end of Chapter 1, so players can get a solid idea of what to expect. Gameplay-wise, Resonance is an adaptation of the 2015 mobile game Final Fantasy Brave Exvius and goes back to basics with a traditional turn-based battle system, rather than ATB (Active Time Battle) or real-time action.

We’re not entirely sure how long the demo will be available following release, so it’s worth trying it out sooner rather than later if you want to jump in for free. The full game costs $49.99 / $59.99 for the Standard and Digital Deluxe Editions, respectively.
